Which TIE/SF Solar Panel looks better? Wash or no wash?

Depends what you wanna' do. Wash gives it a haggard texture. If you want clean, don't do that one.

I love it, personally.

But I guess that's because I like my stuff well used.

Without wash. I like it clean.

You could dry brush solar panel with a quite lighter grey to highlight the texture but at this point you risk to ruin the red painted parts of the wings .

Dry brushing is a good idea, I like being able to see the texture but the wash is too hard to get consistency with

I don't wash my TIEs, at least not the panelling. I do put some around the cockpit and wing struts.

Imperials should be pristine....ish

If you want a more "clean" wash, make the lines stand out without it looking like it's covered in oil you should take a look at enamel washes.

This. I feel like First Order stuff looks more appropriate when it's artificially, sterile-looking clean compared to its Imperial equivalent.

I like the no-wash one.

no wash

First Order should look clean, imo. No wash.

You want to apply a bit of shading, but just where it meets the red parts. Might actually be better to wash the red areas and just allow a little to collect on the side that meets the white foils.
