Anyone else doing a marathon leading up to The Rise of Skywalker?

If you watch a film a night starting tonight you’ll see them all in time for opening day.

I’ve got the prequels and new hope watched. I forgot to watch rogue one and solo between episode 3 and 4.

I was watching Rogue One in my Lyft (it’s like Ubër) and the driver told me he loved watching The Mandalorian with his daughter 🤣

Same. I really liked the opening section of Revenge. It was super cool. I hope when the Clone Wars comes out for Armada, we can try to organize a large scale recreation at like, Gencon or something. As a community.

An explanation for red saber Rey just registered with me. Palpatine had kept a collection of Jedi and Sith related artifacts. You glimpse it in the Vader comics.

Seems reasonable that Rey looted her Swiss army saber from that stash

I have not read any leaks nor will I and if somehow any of the following is substantiated by a leak, please don’t confirm. I’m going in spoiler free.

Predictions for Episode IX:

-Hayden Christensen as Anakin (obviously) appears to Kylo at some point and with sage advice plants the seeds of Kylo’s eventual redemption.

-Kylo Ren wants to become a Sith like his granddaddy and is in search of Sith artifacts. As a result they discover and awaken Palpatine from whereever it is he comes from. I suspect either the ISD encased in ice or an SSD as it looks like an SSD in ice in that shot where the tie swarm is flying at an iceberg.

-Palpatine takes over the First Order. This will cause parts of the FO to turncoat in tandem with Finn.

-Finn starts a Stormtrooper revolt (SW Explained started that theory).

-The Sith Troopers are clones. Kylo mentioned he wanted a clone army in The Force Awakens and unlike other FO Troopers the Sith Troopers have a distinctive T shape added to their visors. If true this suggests either cloning takes less time now or that we get a huge time jump between VIII and IX.

-I suspect one of the overarching messages of the Sequels is that evil only wins if good men don’t fight. The New Republic wouldn't fight in TFA. Nobody would answer Leia’s plea for help in TLJ. DJ embodied neutrality.

I like that idea but I don't think it has to mean either of theses things:

My guess would be that the crew of all those ISDs together with the Sith troopers might be clones. They would be cloned in the past, maybe between episode 3 and 4 and were then put into cryosleep (similar to carbon freezing) on board of those hidden ISDs. This way the clones could have been maturing for 10 years on Kamino and there would be no need for a big time jump between episode 8 and 9.

I feel that is definitely more likely.

Its weird Kamino has been completely ignored in the new canon and now I wonder if that’s due to keeping options open for future stories.

The Kaminoans have the ability to grow and train incredible armies. There is no way Palpatine didn’t take advantage of such an obviously useful asset.

The only problem is that the Sith Trooper armor is absolutely derived from the First Order design aesthetic. This leads me to believe Palpatine’s remnant and the First Order combine at some point early in the film.

Or that they both derive from the same “end of the empire” schematics.

Remember, Palp seeded the first order with the Eclipse.

Not surprising considering the “fan” sabotage campaigns following TLJ.

Ive began my viewing Marathon, will update as I go.

Update 1:

Rogue One a great opening. If there was ever a "Marathon" cut of the order I am doing, then the only thing I would cut is the title card at the start of the movie. This sets up the movie as the "prologue" of the original trilogy. I skipped the Fox logo at the start of A New Hope and the "A Long Time Ago" + opening crawl...

I literally just watched the opening Crawl.

I got to just past the seizure of the Tantive IV when my duties as a father demanded I put my daughter to bed. The snark of the rebels aboard the ship have me laughing, because of their brazen lie directly to Vader's face. Will update once Hope is done.

I'm going to try squeezing in a Marathon too:

Day 1: Prequel s

Day 2: OT

Day 3: Sequels

It's really straightforward. If I had more time, R1 and maybe Solo would go in too (Day 1.5?). I want to get at least the Saga though. The stories gonna have to be skipped.
