Dodonna for 25 points.

I read some of the earliest Armada article from five years ago and found out something new today.

Dodonna was supposed to cost 25 point instead of the 20 he eventually did. Tarkin 35 instead of 38.

Which weirdly high or low point costs for ships squadrons and especially upgrade cards puzzle you still?

Demolisher being only 10 points.

Avenger released as a 5 point title when Mon Karren is 8

Independence being 8 points. Actually, all of that title.

Leia Organa (Commander) for 38 points.

Redundant shields being 8 points always struck me as odd.

Especially considering it was competing with ECMs for a slot...

Yeah, how much would it need to cost to be playable, considering what you're giving up to run it? 2/3 points? I'd run them on CR90s/MC30s at that cost, but every medium and large that can take them would still be given ECM.

Honestly I feel 4 points is fair. Shields are important, but they're also cheap. If a flotilla upgrade can remove any damage card for 4 points, and a defensive upgrade can remove 3 face down cards for 5 2-4 points for a shield per round sounds fair.

Expanded Launchers for 13 pts

Victory titles. All of them are really expensive.

Dominator being 12. And costs your shields. I'd pay 12 and no shields.

Cluster bombs. We'd take them at 1, maybe even 2 points. But as it is they are expensive for a one use card that takes up a very important slot.

Also, check out the old dodonnas ability. Not only did they lower the points cost but they made the ability stronger in 2 different ways as well.

I'd fill my CR90s with cluster bombs at 3 pts a pop.

Too expensive to put on the small ships that want them. Too big an opportunity cost for the big ships that can afford them.

That’s just it. My #TheoryOfThree pegs them right where they kinda should be - it’s only a few less tangibles that currently stop them gaining traction, but it’s helped along by, the moment you seem to do anything to them, people jump on them...

Imo I think they would find a happy home in MC30s, which have a defensive slot yet don't really need any defensive upgrade as there is admo and foresight(also fits their legends lore, nicely)(why oh why does it come in the Home One expansion again?). In my experience my non-mothma MC30s get the nail hammered into the coffin by nibbling squadrons, else they might have done their job and escape narrowly as they do.

The aspects holding them back I believe is the possibly of facing no-squadrons thus wasting the points and the desire to cut points/improve efficiency hence CB often getting the cut.

Perhaps this may not be a very fair comparison but the dps of CB seems fair against Quad Laser Turrets, often seen more on imp ships I believe. 3 expected burst damage vs 0.5 damage for each squadron attacked(thus shooting at squadrons at least 6 times to even up), but QLT has several things going for it like Kallus, and the push for enemy squadrons to shoot the user like Instigator/SSD.

And it's three cards, not four.
