Scenes and Scoops from Celebration 2019

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in X-Wing

My favorite part of the Episode IX panel was when Kelly Marie Tran got the longest ovation out of any of the actors. Way to make a girl feel welcome by the fan base! Star Wars fans really are the best.

Also when they sang Happy Birthday to Daisy Ridley. That warmed my heart. Wish I could be there.

These are great. Because the vocal chucklenuts who ran her off the internet infuriated me to no end. Eff those guys, and glad the crowd gave her the kind of warm welcome she deserved.

It’s not Carnor Jax, but I’ll take it.

I also miss my favorite generic of 1.0, the Royal Guard Interceptor.

Wait a second - I just realized Adam Driver wasn't on the panel. What's up with that?

See I want to agree with you, but you come off as so smug that I don't want to come off as approving of your tone.

You could fill a few volumes with the things wrong with TLJ, and I don't know why of all those things people fixated on her.

EDIT: After reading further on this subject, please disregard my comments.

That is squarely a you problem then.

Because those people were terrible. Sexist twitter trolls deserve no quarter, and should be shunned.

I'm glad you're a good person using the tried and true method of being undiplomatic and patting yourself on the back for having the correct opinions. That always wins people over.

Mmm hmmm. Whatever chief.

you don’t know me, and the reality is I am extremely patient, understanding, and diplomatic in most contexts. But when it comes to sexist trolls? Nah. Screw those guys.

That you think this makes me smug, or ‘patting myself on the back for having he correct opinions’ (that sexism is bad? Yeah that’s a pretty clearly correct opinion) is telling.

But that’s all I have to say on the subject.

Im glad that Kelly Marie Tran got a warm welcome. And, honestly, any person should be treated well. Even if you don’t like the character or movie, I’m looking at you Hayden Christiansen and Ahmed Best, I believe in welcoming them warmly.

Smugness is a cancer. It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, you can still be an *******.

You responded to "I'm glad she didn't get driven out of the franchise by sexist remarks online" with "it's hard to agree with you when you're so smug".

You're completely out of the ballpark on this one, chief.

You don't know me either. And at this point I'm sorry I said anything. I don't use Twitter and was not active in Star Wars fandom between maybe 2011-last month so I was only vaguely aware of what happened.

Let me step back and say I misspoke. I was unaware of the gravity of the situation. So...I'm sorry for saying anything at all.

This is where ArcHammer learns not to shoot his mouth off about things he's not completely informed about and doesn't have that much of an interest to begin with. I think I just wanted to argue.

EDIT: FWIW I wasn't completely reading every post and I only had the vaguest sense of the events that took place. I want to firmly reiterate that I am not on the side of trolls, sexist or otherwise.

That’s Hondo !

Yeah it is!

With Rey, Chewie, and Porgs?!

I guess products packaged together don't necessarily need to be era-aligned, although it's weird to be THIS far out of whack. Maybe Hondo's species is just fairly long-lived? I mean, Yoda was 900, so....???

looks like a theme park item based on the Smuggler's run ride at Disney parks. Like Star Tours, the era's probably get mashed together.

Thrawn....Admiral Thrawn.

It is quite possible that Weequay have a fairly long lifespan. Yoda or Wookie length maybe, longer than baseline humans very possible.

Holy, Hondo!

That raises so many questions, like if he is actually in the movie and sequel era in general, will other animation characters make an appearance like Ezra, Thrawn, Sabine, and will Hondo make an appearance at Galaxy's Edge.

Would be great if this movie brought everything together.

Smugness is a mild sniffle compared to the cancer of sexism on the internet. Everyone everywhere can be as smug and awful as they want to to the people who attacked her.

My personal belief is that being awful to awful people just brings you down to their level because you're being awful to make yourself feel better. "Because my enemy does it, it's okay for me to do the same to them" isn't a road I personally want to go down. If that's what you wish to do, that is your choice.

I said I was sorry. I didn't know what I was talking about. That's all-inclusive and I refuse to respond further.

Consider this my exit from this thread. Very nearly from this community.

He will be at Galaxy's Edge, there was a immagineer video floating around a while back of them doing test work on his audio animatronic. Basically he will be the reason for the Millennium Falcon ride where he paid Chewie to borrow the ship for a little mission which the guests go on.

You know what?

I LOVE THIS! Disney, you know how to get me to go back to your godforsaken swamp park in Florida man land.

To be fair, the ride will be open on both coasts and in a couple years will find a home at Paris as well.

For those that want to see Hondo's animatronic in motion, with and without its covering.
