We interview Alex Davy & Luke Eddy and talk Legion in the State of the Legion cast!

By hothorbust, in Star Wars: Legion

Confirmation that Critical X converts X surges (not hit results)

Detachment troopers are not support rank

Mortar on shoretroopers is the same 3 white dice as AT-ST mortar but can fire support. Also has Critical keyword and Suppressive

Confirmation that Clone Trooper type can spend the green tokens (surge, dodge, aim and standby) of any friendly clone trooper in range 1

Alex described the CIS as a 'min-max' army style with super cheap corps droids but some of the most expensive commanders (Grievous)

More narrative terrain pieces coming

More factions down the road including possible "sub factions"

The release pace will not slow down for the next year

Fire support on the mortar is going to be awesome with unlimited range!

Did they happen say what rank the Detachments are or just say they aren't Support? Not really somewhere I can listen to the podcast right now.

They kept it mysterious but teased that "we can probably figure it out" which leads me to think that its either a new rank or a corps rank

Well, that at least leaves us SOMETHING to endlessly discuss while we wait for new reveals since they spoiled the debate on Critical X. 😛

Those mortars sound super fun now. All we need is a keyword that allows them to fire at something they can’t see if the other unit has the right LOS. Something like “when you perform an attack, measure LOS and cover from the other unit”

Too bad the keyword "Spotter" already exists.

I have a theory that "Linked Targeting Array" will allow indirect fire from AT-ST's and Shoretrooper mortars. Either that or it will give Fire Support to vehicles

Listening to it again I'm like 75% sure that they're corps.

No kidding. After the dewback/clone trooper mind F, we had at least another month on that one.

Luke was pretty obviously pushing that, without saying it lol.

I almost hate to say anything just bc it might come off as negative and i love this site more than all the others and even most downloadable builders.

I would love a clearer image or rules reference. Sometimes the card images are difficult to read and with the number of keywords now its hard to keep track of all of them. I'm not as worried about the unreleased content as I'd rather have it up there quick, but more of the already released items getting legible scans

actually i could imagine since alex pointed out some time ago that the special forces slot wil be pretty competed, that the mortar and gatling mini might be special forces

I would guess it's "Emplacement Troopers". That's why Rebel Veterans and Shore Troopers have "Coordinate: Emplacement Troopers".

Edit: Sorry, that's not the question, is it? But both Emplacement Troopers that exist are Support. So I would guess: Support. If it wouldn't have confirmed they are not.

Just forget what I said ... 🤐

Emplacement Trooper is a type of trooper not rank. Both the E-web and Dish gun are also emplacement troopers and they are a support rank. I would guess that they are either a corps or a new rank called detachment or something like that.

Interesting, and very appropriate for the faction. Fingers crossed that the commanders are worth their very high point value then. It could also mean that it will be difficult to run double commanders in CIS armies since players could be losing out on a large majority of their corps and other units by doubling up on expensive commanders.

Makes me hopeful that Grievous and Dooku are going to be monsters. I'm sure we will get at least 1 or 2 officer type commanders as well.

Besides the fact that you want your corps units at range 1 of each other anyway. So you may only need one commander (for courage bubble purposes at least), especially if they’re durable.

Imagine if Grievous can attack 4 times with his sabers!
