Extended Lists for New Players

By lergof0202, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey everyone! I'm new to the game, don't have many 1.0 ships. Some of my buddies are going to an extended tournament next month. Does anyone have any good suggestions for extended lists that use mostly 2.0 stuff. I'm sure I can borrow a 1.0 ship from a buddy, but probably wouldn't want to borrow more than 1. So ideally, something that has mostly 2.0 stuff. I'm not trying to top any charts. Just want to have a decent chance to win a match if I make good decisions. Thanks in advanced!

What faction are you thinking about playing?

If its competitive in Hyperspace it will be good enough in Extended :)

This. Build with 2.0 stuff, you'll be fine.

REBELS

For newer players, force users are always an asset cause you have mods after being blocked, or bumping your ships.

Cheap competitive is Luke wedge and dutch all with proton torps. Core set, xwing and ywing expansion. Has made top 8 at a few trials already. Just 1 straight and banks. Send dutch out front for the locks and erase a ship. Easy peasy for newer players. Hyperspace legal and good in extended also. Should do well against 2 or 3 ship lists. Swarms will cause you problems as well as ace lists flown by good players.

Luke Skywalker (62)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Wedge Antilles (52)
Swarm Tactics (3)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

“Dutch” Vander (39)
Selfless (3)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
Total: 199

EMPIRE

Maarek Stele (46)
Marksmanship (1)
Fire-Control System (2)

“Howlrunner” (40)
Crack Shot (1)

“Mauler” Mithel (32)
Crack Shot (1)

“Scourge” Skutu (32)
Crack Shot (1)

“Duchess” (42)
Predator (2)
Total: 200

All same initiative, so easy to fly. Free mods with howlrunner. Dutchess is very noob friendly since you are not forced to aileron, but the option to aileron is always available to get you out of a bad situation. Hyperspace legal as well. This has a lot of firepower, but still suffers from classic swarm problems, like rocks, etc. Experienced players will know how to defeat it, but people who bring other jousty lists wont be able to dodge this list and can get one of their lower ps ships killed before it fires. Your init 5 with five ships with 12-14 red dice is your greatest strength. PS kill a ship lower than you.

SCUM

Old Teroch (56)
Predator (2)

Talonbane Cobra (50)
Predator (2)

Boba Fett (86)
Trick Shot (2)
Qi’ra (2)
Total: 200

This list just wants to get close to stuff at range 1 and erase it. Not many tricks here, just firepower. Extended only. Swap Talonbane for a skull fang for hyperspace.

FIRST ORDER

Not exactly 2.0 only stuff out there, but:

Kylo Ren (76)

Lieutenant Tavson (62)
Biohexacrypt Codes (1)
Captain Phasma (5)

Starkiller Base Pilot (56)
Total: 200

Keep kylo safe, just do what damage you can with upsilons while kylo flanks and plays cautiously taking range 3 shots until a ship or two is cleared and there are less arcs for him to dodge.

RESISTANCE

The initiative fives is probably the strongest list for newer players. Get some reps in with the awings first. All same initiative with good repositioning. May have to borrow some heroics, or just swap em with crackshots/trickshots/elusive on Nein. Strength of the list is repostioning. Come at 3 different angles and get all four ships firing. Then your opponent now has decisions to make as the awings can go any direction they want, nein can black one to safety or behind the opponent, and ello can white tallon. Going against i6's and losing bid to other i5s can be a problem.

Integrated S-Foils (0)

Nien Nunb (55)

Pattern Analyzer (5)
Black One (2)

Tallissan Lintra (35)

L’ulo L’ampar (38)

Total: 195
