slam and pattern analyzer

By nixxinn, in X-Wing Rules Questions

hello there, I'm a new player and a bit confused as I think is normal for a new player, my question is:

when you slam, can you pattern analyze aswell ? cos it says under slam rules "A ship can perform a 󲁊 action only as the ship’s one action during the Perform Action step." with the box beeing a slam action logo, so this must mean that the movement you do during the slam action happens outside of the action phase you do the slam in ?

my local guys say you can use pattern while slamming, but I'm confused by rules :)

sorry if this has been asked a 100 times, did a search and some browsing and could not find a post on this

thanks in advance for any answers :)

I think what they mean by this, is because Slam counts as both an Action AND a Maneuver, if you picked a Red Maneuver for your slam action, you could use Patterned Analyzer after the Slam movement, getting one more action in before the stress from that red maneuver.

The movement for Slam is still Part of the Perform Action step.
As far as i know, the only ship capable of doing this combo, is a Black One titled T-70.

Dial in a Tallon Roll, then boost or (if S-foils are aligned correctly) barrel roll towards an enemy. Use Nien's ability to burn your stress, then SLAM towards somebody else (optimally with another Tallon Roll) and Pattern Analyze again.
