Guide for Action Resolve Order

By TheBlindSamurai, in Rules Questions

I saw this mentioned in another thread, but I was curious what the standard 'flow' for action economy resolution is. A post mentioned there can be issues caused by technique resolution(s), so I was just curious what the best rule of thumb is for a "if/when X resolves, to make sure Y happens"

the best rule of thumb is the core rule (opportunities first, then successes).

if a situation falls in a crack (most likely), then deal a suitable resolution with your players (as you would do for advantages, disadvantages, or the many other rules that are written in a very unclear way or left overs from the beta way.

rules as written is most often than not the way to go, but this game is by design flexible without explaining how to be flexible (reduce TN ? free opportunities ? give an advantage ? and it that case, the order of resolutions)

do what you feel like! and most of all, have fun arguing with your players!

It's pretty much a GM call - but it's worth making decisions (ideally jointly with players).

The big one is to what extent you allow 'nested' effects, which can rapidly spawn very confusing resolution events due to checks-within-checks opportunity spends or else change the TN of a check mid-check.
