Crypt Chill Card Effect

By gh0std0g_, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

So here is a rule question I could not find within the rules reference. With the Crypt Chill card effect "Test 4 intellect. If you fail, choose and discard 1 asset you control (if you cannot take 2 damage instead). I failed the Crypt Chill skills test and the asset I currently am controlling is Elder Sign Amulet. I have one horror that I put on to the Elder Sign Amulet so that my investigator wouldn't take the horror. Does this horror also get discarded with the Elder Sign Amulet because it is attached to said asset that now has to be discarded?

To answer your question: any horror that is on the Elder Sign Amulet is discarded when the amulet is discarded, it is not transferred to your investigator.

Also, the test for Crypt Chill is a willpower (head icon) test. Intellect is represented by the book icon, and is the skill used for investigating by default. I mention this because I know more than one new player who has confused these icons and thought that the head icon was the skill that is used for investigating.

Edit: the rule you are looking for is found under "Leaves Play" in the rules reference. "If a card leaves play... all tokens on the card are returned to the token pool."

Added rules reference.

Yes, basically assigning damage or horror to an asset(ally or itemor talent or whatever) means they are soaking up that damage/horror instead of you. The assets get discarded when either their health or sanity gets maxed. If they get discarded through another means like crypt chill, they have already absorbed the damage/horror and any tokens tracking that just get discarded along with the card.

(head icon) = Willpower

(book icon) = Intellect(default investigation stat)

(fist icon) = Strength(default Fight stat)

(Foot icon) = Agility(default Evasion stat)

Thanks all.

It's actually Combat, but Strength would be a more accurate title.

Just double-checked, and wow, could have SWORN it was Strength. Must be the holdover from Eldritch Horror and the AH 3rd edition that made me think that.

But yeah, I also agree Strength would be a better title.

Head Book Fist Flying Shoes does the job too.

We usually call them "Head" (willpower), "Books" (intellect) "Fists" (combat), "Feet" (agility). In Eldritch we called Influence "handshakes" too, often expressed in the format "Ok, shake his hand to get the clue" or "investigate using your head"

Particularly when it shows up on No Turning Back. Unless, of course, your investigator is Chris Redfield.

We call them Willpower, Knowledge, Strength and Dexterity :D

We just say... which skill is it I’m failing at again???? 🤪

I like the name. I always thought it was a measure of your fighting skill/ability to inflict damage rather than strength. That's why it helpful when using guns.

We usually call Combat "punch."
