FO extended tournament

By Muppetfluffer, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Going to Stockholm for a tournament next weekend. I dont have much time for practice, so going with ships I atleast have Idea how to fly.

My first piece is ADsens/Baffel Tavsson and bringing debrie. Not only do I get actions when I fly on debrie/gasclouds but I can also bump a ship for placement or get shot less when fighting several opponents.

Not to mention the open dial and increased actioneconomy.

Tavsson ADsens and Baffel 74pts.

Only theory with Tavsson atm, but I put my hours in to that ship and got a storting plan :)

Wingmates, the obvious choice is Kylo since he is the most succesfull in FO, that leaves room for Malarius or BF (im going with Malarius).

The second option would be QD and Blackout.

Any thoughts on this or ideas for wingmates?

Eh, Malarus is fun and all, especially if her trickshot goes off, but she is typically only 2 dice. 2 dice can be great if you have a lot of them or have some nice tricks like Midnight making sure his opponent's don't modify dice (his synergy with gas clouds is nice: dunk 3 dice through the cloud [don't spend the lock!] and use a coordinated focus if needed. The opponent gets a bonus die, but no gas cloud ability or other mods. When they shoot back, you get the bonus die and a blank into evade!). Quickdraw is always a good pairing with Kylo though.

I'm not convinced on Advanced Sensors on Tavson. So long as you aren't stressing him, he gets a lot of actions anyway. As such, I don't care if he bumps or hits an obstacle (non-debris sort). Stressing him is a feelsbad moment when he takes damage, as you can't ditch that stress until baffle time (and sometimes you need that in-the-moment coordinate/focus/jam, etc.). Tavson is a good pair with silencers though, given how his scary gun grants area control for the aces to squirrel about easier in their flanking. And if you have the points, Phasma is pretty good on Tavson. Getting in range 1 of him guarantees that if they are not stressed, they will be. This is hand for denying actions of Leia k-turns, turning off advanced sensors or adaptive ailerons, or forcing the maneuvers of things like fangs (no talon roll for them!). Biohexacrypt codes are also great on Tavson. If you take 2 damage, if both your Tavson charges are active, you can use the first charge to lock something and the second charge to either jam or coordinate. That won't happen too often, but it is handy. More relevant is simply locking a friendly ship on the first turn. Now when you coordinate to that ship (probably Kylo at range 5), you can spend the lock and ignore the range restriction!

Blackout or Quickdraw? You can both of them as your aces supported by Tavson, but Blackout paired with Kylo is very difficult. It's good if you can leverage it, but very difficult. Quickdraw, combined with Tavson, offers so much area control that I'd lean towards her in furthering offering Kylo's options, especially since the points don't support Supernatural Reflexes at this point.

If you aren't afraid of being outbid and just use area denial to move Kylo:

Kylo Ren (76)
Hate (3)

Ship total: 79 Half Points: 40 Threshold: 3

Lieutenant Tavson (62)
Biohexacrypt Codes (1)

Ship total: 63 Half Points: 32 Threshold: 6

"Quickdraw" (45)
Fanatical (2)
Special Forces Gunner (10)

Ship total: 57 Half Points: 29 Threshold: 3

Total: 199

Of all these lists, I think Kylo + Quickdraw + no bid but lots of area denial is the best.

Thats such an awsome reply, thank you!! 😃

I used to fly 80pt Tavsson with QD and BF with good success before pointsbalance.

The 80pt had Collisiondetector, pattern analyzer, baffel and phasma. The movability of this ship surprised most oponents and the uptime on fire

is really high. The combo with phasma, taking 2 redturns and get tons of actions made it eaven dogfight with Poe in a game ( Poe had to use everything to avoid the 4-5dice doublemodded gun)

This is why I really like the idea of Patternanalyzer/collision/baffel /phasma or Adsens/baffel/Biohex

Tavson suffers greatly vs lower PS lists where he doesnt get the double mod as frequently, so thats also why i like baffel to get that extra actioneconomy going.

But thats just looking at one ship, not the balance of the list.

Its interesting what you say about QD+TAV synergy, because this is something that been boggling me alot and I came to the same conclusion.

Since rebelbeef and quad Phantons will be represented i was looking at Kylo, Tavson, Malarius since they get defensive mods on all recieved shots. But yes, propably a to big drop in power.

I always fly 200pts and try to fly better ;)

Tavson, Kylo, Quickdraw is light on upgrades, but it's a solid list.

If you want to fly the FO-fighter, two of the cheaper uniques with fanatical (I prefer Scorch and Longshot) makes a good 4-ship list with Tavson and Quickdraw.
