Humbrol/Testor paints??

By LTuser, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

For those of you who paint your ships, which model paints do you prefer using?? Testor (as they are very common these days), Humbrol? The older Tamyia ones you'd get for models? Other?

When you do paint, what thinner do you use to clean your brushes?

Hello!

I would say most of us use acrylics, as it is easier to work with and layer.

Enamels require specific products for thinning and proper air flow, while for Acrylics water works :)

I use Vallejo, Citadel and Scale Color :)

Have fun!

Seems like a nightmare working with anything other than acrylic. Citadel, Vallejo, Scale 75, anything like that.

Why you no use Tamiya brand paints?!?

They're acrylic with isopropanol and glycol, they are best I've tried for any of the miniatures painting I've done. I just wish they were more widely available and I didn't have to order them online...

Yep, most folk around here use acrylic paints mostly because they work well, don't smell so strong and ease of clean-up. Also, they're fairly easy to remove if you ever need to strip a ship to do a repaint. Typical brands are Vallejo, Citatel and Army Painter. Testors has an acrylic range of paints too.

Humbrol have a range of acrylic paints as well, but I haven't seen any sold here in Oz for years. A large part of my paint collection is the older Humbrol acrylics, with Citadel (again, mainly their old range), and a growing range of Vallejo.

As for washing/cleaning my paint brushes, I use the tears of my enemies. I find that most satisfying

:P
