Can Vader's (crew) ability be used to kill buzz droids?

Buzz Droids are Remotes, not Ships, so no.

THis is confirmed by the Vulture and Servants rules inserts, whih state that Remotes do not count as enemy ships, unless the effect concerned is part of an ability of the attacker in an attack on the remote. or words to that effect.

Remotes are devices. Their rules include a call-out allowing them to be declared as the defender of an attack, but there's nothing which indicates they can be targetted by other effects which target ships.

Gotcha. Thought so. These just seem super brutal against large base ships without barrel roll. Like perma auto damage.

Use a different ship to shoot it, or end your maneuver in such a way that the token can't be placed in your front guides, and then fly away the following turn.

Exact wording, to help :)

Quote

A remote can be declared as the defender. Treat it as a ship, with the following exceptions and notes:

  • Effects that refer to "friendly ships" do not apply to a remote.
  • Effects that refer to "enemy ships" only apply to a remote if the attacker is the source of the effect.
  • As a remote does not have a midway line, a ship cannot be in front of, behind, or flanking a remote.
  • An attack made against a remote can be obstructed and range bonuses are applied to it as normal.

So even tho Vader doesn't specify friendly or enemy ships, they did clarify that bombs hit ships AND remotes, even though the wording on the bombs also did not clarify friendly or enemy ships. So im not 100% clear on what they mean by "Treat it as a ship".

I'm pretty sure they mean "While a remote is defending, it is considered a ship with the following caveats. It is not a ship for any other purposes." So, as an example, "Jag" (Republic, Arc-170) and "Luminara Unduli" (Republic, Delta-7 Aethersprite) both have abilities that trigger while or after a friendly ship defends, and those abilities would not trigger if a friendly remote were defending. On the other hand, consider "Intimidation" (Talent). If buzz droids latched onto your ship with Intimidation, they would only be affected by it when the intimidating ship attacked, assuming said ship had a means of attacking at range 0 in the first place. There may be other examples, but most of the ones I thought might apply don't specify "enemy ship", they specify "defender".
