Since Matthew Ansley was kind enough to wait in line for a shiny vulture droid, I decided to convert one of my Trade Federation Vultures into walking mode complete with some reference photos to show how I did it. Just a paper clip, an Exacto knife, a pin vice and some glue and less than hour.
P.S. that walking Vulture droid is damned adorable

Any tips for getting the head off? I’m working on mine now- I got the wings off fairly easily but the head is proving to be more difficult.

For any future readers looking for tips: I got the head off by going around the outline of the head with an X-acto knife over and over until I had a decent-sized groove cut. Then I braced the droid and put the X-acto blade into the groove, applied a little pressure and rocked back and forth until the head popped off.
Also, I used a hemostat (it’s like a pair of delicate needle-nose pliers that locks closed) to hold the model while I worked on it- that was invaluable for holding it securely while also keeping my fingers safely away from the blade.
