Are the new Xwings oddly boring?

Have you considered running your T-65's with an R2? Flipping the wings closed to get a boost+ focus is great on the turns you want to disengage on.

Yeah, that's what I did there. I still lost the shield to a random R3 attack (rolled blanks) and lost more health on another ship cuz of lack of attacks back.

WAsn't worth it. Felt like it woulda been better to just try and PS hurt something.

No, I agree with the default focus. That's precisely my point. It is required.

I've flipped closed the foils literally like once in all my games. Atm, they just make it easier for Wedge and Luke to get in and get a torp off.

Meh.

I've been playing this game for 3 years too though.

But when you start the game you get to quote “lock s-foils in attack position”! It never gets old :)

I fly at least 2 65s in the vast majority of my lists. Not only are they my absolute favourite ship, I find them very dependable.

I generally put different things with them to 'sex' things up; currently I'm flying Corran and a Blue Squadron Scout with Leia alongside 2 Blue Squadron Escorts and it's pretty strong so far.

Now that my focus rant is over. X-wings are far from boring. They now function excellently. Low Init can block, high init can Arc Dodge, they hit hard when they setup right, they tank a few shots before going down. They're the similar most versatile ships in the game

Kulbee Sperado+Cloaking Device. Flipping foils all game long. Jek Porkins, constantly flipping on red moves for position. TorpWedge closed through first joust for range control on the Torpedoes run, then open for close shot, back open to disengage.

Those ships taught me that liberal use of foils in disengage and come around sequences is totally acceptable. For me I had to pay the thinking that they were rigid. Initially I did leave them open, but I don't any more. Two die attacks are fortunately still usable in this edition. And I like that. No x-wings aren't boring, you just haven't gotten to play them interestingly yet.

I have found quite the opposite with 2.0 x-wings, I find them exciting and interesting to fly. But then again I enjoyed flying them in 1.0 even before the fix, the new S-foils just give them more options and interesting decisions.

Or am I just having game fatigue?

The new ones takes so much remembering, with the R2 triggers and the S-foil configs and changing them. Yet they also don't feel that fun to play or move around. I feel like I enjoyed flying the 1.0 Xwing a lot more and the 5Xs.

They are truly boring for me too. To restore the full fun 1.0 experience in 2.0 for the T-65 X-Wing I suggest the following:

  • reduce the hull value by one
  • if you equip an astromech you may equip a free Hull Upgrade card
  • increase the difficulty of 2-bank manoeuvres
  • remove the barrel roll action from the action bar
  • remove Talon rolls from the manoeuvre dial
  • reduce any equipped ordnance to one charge, to a minimum of one
  • remove the configuration upgrade slot

This will certainly be more fun and good times for my TIE Fighters. Did I not mention I’m an Imperial player?

I hear a lot of people talk about R2s, but every time I include X-Wings, I just gravitate to R4s instead. Having a Blue turn option has been very helpful on a number of occasions!

And so far, 2x X-Wings + 2x A-Wings is one of my favorite 2E lists! (Especially surprising to me, since I normally consider myself an Imperial player!)

I think that till leia is 2 points there are bertter option to r4 as astromech.

R2 is actually one.

There is always a round in which you can't shoot so you don't waste it

If your list can actually take Leia, sure. If you have no crew-carriers, that's not really an option. Not to mention that Leia is sort of a one-shot that requires all your ships that want to take advantage of her to do so on the same turn.

R4 may not be the best option, but for the price, it does quite well.

I have been running Luke/Wedge/Benthic Two-Tubes. I just use them primarily as brawlers. No torps, just get them in and keep engaged.

I find them alot of fun and reliable ships.

As a Rebel player who came in late to 1.0 and tried his hardest to make classic X-wings work, the new X-wings are great. However, I've been using them in every list since 2.0 dropped and I'm DEFINITELY feeling the fatigue with them and after this weekend I plan on flying Republic for a while.

When the game first dropped, i was loving a XXYU list but have switched it up to using Wedge. Thane, and the 2 A-wing aces. I rarely bother with ordinance, so your mileage may vary. Basically, the key is finding the pilots and upgrades that fit your play style. Heck, try slapping on the new Spare Parts Canisters to turn your X-wings into light bombers!

You know the dial doesn't look like this, right?

They even have this handy 0-point upgrade that puts Boost on their action bar.

Game fatigue could definitely be a factor. I spent almost all of 1.0 playing empire/first order and it can get boring. Not mention downright miserable when your faction is struggling.

Recently I have been learning how to fly rebel lists and it has been positively invigorating. Maybe try tie strikers they are a lot fun to fly and will play very differently.
