Fel Lists

By Asaverino1019, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I’m trying to come up with a Hyperspace Imperial list centered around Fel but am having trouble with the non-Fel part of the list. I have a few ideas but don’t know which is a better supporting cast.

Soontir Fel (52)

Predator (2)

Shield Upgrade (8)

Afterburners (6)

Darth Vader (65)

Fire Control System (2)

Brilliant Evasion (6)

Afterburners (6)

Deathfire (34)

Skilled Bombardier (2)

Seismic Charges (3)

Proton Bombs (5)

Total 192

—or—-

Soontir Fel (52)

Predator (2)

Stealth Device (8)

Maarek Stele (46)

Fire Control System (2)

Del Meeko (30)

Squad Leader (10)

Zertik Storm (42)

Fire Control System (2)

Total 194

What are your thoughts internet?

I play Vader, Fel, Duchess and Wompa.

Predator on Fel, Duchess. FCS on Vader.

Wompa is great, as players want to shoot him and with 3 dice and an evade he seems to survive quite well

My immediate thought is that you can cut some upgrades from Fel - all he really needs is Predator and a cautious approach! His tendency to explode when the green dice (inevitably) go south means that investing in too many extra upgrades for him just makes losing him more painful for the rest of your list, whereas 54pts is far more expendable yet can easily earn back far more than that.

That gives you a lot more room for wingmen. I like Vader a lot, though while Afterburners are essential in my experience, and Fire Control is cheap enough that it's well worth throwing on, Brilliant Evasion is...trash. 6pts is absurd for it and it really isn't needed.

From there you've got 73pts to play around with, and there's a lot that can be done with that. Ideally you want ships that are going to support the I6 aces, draw attention away from them, or both. Proton Torpedo Redline (I guarantee he'll be target number one), Lt Sai (for co-ordinate and truly ridiculous action economy), Major Vermeil (dangerous if ignored while also having support abilities in co-ordinate and jam, as well as plentiful points for crew options), a couple of named TIEs (those that get extra attack die are best to look at, or Sayn Marana for her 1.0 Wampa powers), even a Delta Defender could be a decent shout for incredible blocking potential and being difficult to remove.

If you wanted to keep Deathfire, though, I'd go with this:

Soontir Fel (TIE Interceptor)
-Predator
54pts

Darth Vader (TIE Advanced x/1)
-Fire Control System
-Afterburners
73pts

'Deathfire' (TIE Bomber)
-Proton Bombs
39pts

'Wampa' (TIE Fighter)
30pts

196pts

Deathfire is likely to die very fast if he's shot at, so it's not hugely worth investing a lot of points into him, in case he doesn't get to use them. Using just two bombs, though, is manageable and if he somehow survives to use more than that, the Bomber has a reload action. Wampa is an abolsute bargain for 30pts and cannot be easily ignored, making target priority that much harder for your opponent. A bid is handy to have for I6 pilots, but not essential and certainly not one as deep as 8 or even 6 points (given the relative scarcity of I6 compared with I5). You could cut into the 4pt bid here with Hate for Vader (decent to help him out if he has some bad defence dice), or Seismic Charges/Skilled Bombardier for Deathfire (in case more bomb variety/deployment options is warranted), but that would be down to taste and personally I'd keep the bid as I think it's a better use of the points.

Hope that helps!

This is probably wicked foolish, but it makes me chuckle:

  • Soontir Fel (Predator, Hull Upgrade, Shield Upgrade) 69 - I kinda prefer odd hit points... takes 3 hits to get this Soontir to half points rather than 2 hits. Afterburners would be fine instead of Hull.
  • Darth Vader (Supernatural Reflexes, [Fire Control System or Collision Detector], Proton Rockets, Afterburners) 112 or 116 - So maximum flexibility on Vader with Collision Detector, but with SNR eating force and no slot for Hate, FCS for action economy might be worthwhile. Proton Rockets can be highly useful spike damage.
  • Bid 19 or 15.

Almost surely a bad idea to fly 10 HP over 2 ships. But the premise of it is so extreme to be kinda cool to me.

As an avid Fel flier, the news that he's hyperspace legal immediately had me looking for lists. I don't know if there's enough in the faction for Hyperspace to give his wingmen the bulk he wants. Fel works best if the enemy squad is too busy chewing on the rest of your list to notice him. I have had the best success in extended with Defenders, Shuttles, Punishers, and (weirdly) TIE Adv Prototypes. None of that is Hyperspace legal. Out of TIEs, regular Advanceds, bombers, strikers, and reapers, there's nothing there that gives me hope.

That said, my current ideal HS list for him looks like this:

Soontir Fel with Predator (54)
Darth Vader with FCS (67)
Scimitar Squadron Pilot with Barrage Rockets (37)
Scimitar Squadron Pilot with Barrage Rockets (37)
195/200

Not much of a bid, but with I6's, hopefully I won't need much. 12 health of bomber can be pretty chunky for your opponent to chew on, and I incentivized attacking them by giving them rockets that hit harder if they are allowed to be focused when they attack. Vader will lead them as an element, with Fel as a flanker. This should let Vader's element distract the enemy team long enough to get Fel behind them, and hopefully the 2 Aces dunk something before it gets to fire (or at least before round 2 with the rocket follow-up)

I've been running Fel and 3 named strikers. The only mandatory upgrade in that list is shield upgrade on Sabaac to help his ability stay relevant; you can season the rest with 12 points of upgrades/bid.

I tried the same yesterday... i liked it a lot. I'm only thinking to change sabaac for bomber brenn with proton torpedoes to leverage more on that huge bid
