Here's a question (not mine) from BGG about the Bear Trap:

I have the Bear Trap item. During the enemy phase, I activate a minion Cave Spider that is in the shadows. The effect bar for the spider is Poison -> Advance -> Inflict. When the spider advances it becomes engaged with me so I use the Bear Trap. This inflicts 1 wound on the spider, which will kill it. The question is does the spider’s Inflict still take effect?

I know when a hero attacks that all effects are resolved before clean-up, but this isn’t a hero attack. Also, the section on Activating Enemies states that the effect bar is resolved from left to right. So, I am inclined to think that the spider dies before it can inflict.

So the question basically is: do we have to execute the effect bar of the spider without interruption, or can we use the bear trap to counter the effect bar?

I believe it kills immediately after “advance”.
