I have a Scum list idea that uses two Y-wings and a Starviper. I plan on buying the Scum conversion kit and a new Y-wing. Is there anything that you recommend that I buy for the cards? For the sake of argument, assume that I have nothing else for 2.0 but the Core set.

Not knowing the exact list, cant say for sure. Like if you are wanting to use Qira or L337 crew, those only come in the Lando Falcon Expansion. But with the core set and scum conversion kit, you should be good to build most lists.
The Lando Falcon Expansion Pack has lots of cards not included in the Scum Conversion kit, while the Mining Guild TIE includes a model not seen in 1.0 and new pilots. Both are good ships to have for variety. The Fang Fighter Expansion Pack includes another copy of Afterburners, which might be nice, but everything else comes in the Conversion Kit.
