Building separatists

By Warterius, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm trying to build a CIS list for a small hyperspace tournamentf with limited resources. My droid fighter packs got lost in transit so i have 1 scimitar, 2 Bellbulabs and 4 droids.

I would like trying Maul with 5 droids, but since i don't have the 5th droid yet here are 2 lists I came up with:

Sith Infiltrator - •Darth Maul - 75
•Darth Maul - Sith Assassin (65)
•General Grievous (3)
Scimitar (4)
Hate (3)

Belbullab-22 Starfighter - •Wat Tambor - 53
•Wat Tambor - Techno Union Foreman (43)
Soulless One (10)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Total: 200/200

Droids rush forward to meet the enemy, Wat swoops in from the back maintaining speed to get foes when droids are in r1 of an enemy. He could also flank, depending on the situation. Maul goes further away from droids in a different lane so enemies would have to choose whether to meet droids heads on or turn to Maul. With hate he can often capitalize on double taps and scimitar lets him escape or get in better position while grievous is good when you loose the shields. Wat is quite ok, but with only 3 droids for enabling his ability i'm not convinced since they might loose those calculates before he gets to fire.

Had a couple of games with this list and I feel like 3 droids are too little both for enabling Wat and sharing those calculates. Often you only get to shoot 1 energy shell charge per round.

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Belbullab-22 Starfighter - •Captain Sear - 44
•Captain Sear - Kage Infiltrator (39)
•K2-B4 (5)

Belbullab-22 Starfighter - •General Grievous - 59
•General Grievous - Ambitious Cyborg (47)
Predator (2)
Soulless One (10)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Total: 199/200

4 droids sounds like they should be better at coordinating each other with calculate tokens. Sear with K2-B4 flies behind supporting droids defense and adding crackshots for those droids that can't fire energy shells. Grievous, in the mean time, goes for a flank. Predator should help to keep up with the damage ouput in case someone turns to him.

Still not sure if i'm better at equipping Sear with some defensive upgrades. I could switch the tittle or instead of title, get impervium plating on both Bells and loose predator on the Cyborg.

I think that loosing 1 ESC and upgrading K2-B4 to Kraken for the points gained will be a good bargain. I've played a couple of games with K2-B4 solitary (Maul+ 5 vultures) and it was quite useless. Firstly, you have to spend your calculate to use it, so you won't fire ECS this round. Secondly, your enemy may choose to get strained. And he surely will, if it allows him to destroy one of your ships. Thirdly, strain isn't that bad for your enemy. It only works on a single shot, so it won't do too much of a harm.

If you take Kraken, you should be able to spend some tokens defensively and still be able to fire those ECSs. And, Wat will become tougher, as he will get access to calculate action and will be able to keep that token.

Interesting idea for the 2nd list.

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 20
Trade Federation Drone - (20)

Belbullab-22 Starfighter - •General Grievous - 53
•General Grievous - Ambitious Cyborg (47)
Impervium Plating (6)

Belbullab-22 Starfighter - •Captain Sear - 55
•Captain Sear - Kage Infiltrator (39)
Impervium Plating (6)
•Kraken (10)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Vulture -class Droid Fighter - Trade Federation Drone - 24
Trade Federation Drone - (20)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Total: 200/200

But i'm stil thinking whether it's better than my previous Maul list which has same amount of attacks and more health.

Sear Grievous mini swarm, on the other hand, has more defence and mods, more ships, potentially more damage after ESC's are shot and a decent flanker.

Still deciding which CIS list to fly today.
