Allied factions

By Sandman001, in X-Wing Rules Questions

With all these factions who can work together? I figured that SnV works as mercs, Empire needs someone to do the dirty work and the rebellion needs all the help they can get. Han was hired for a job and Vader used bounty hunters to hunt down the falcon then there was "Rouge One". In 2ed, I cant use yt1300 unless I play SnV so does anyone knows the rules for playing a mix squad and could it be torment legal.

No mixed faction lists are tournament legal; tournament lists must be drawn from a single faction. For official play, X-wing doesn't include flavor mashups like Imperials hiring bounty hunters. This would be strictly limited to casual/narrative play.

However, there are certain ships that are available in multiple factions; the Y-wing and Z-95, for example, can both be fielded by either Rebel and Scum squads, though with different pilots for each faction. You can't field a Rebel Y-wing pilot like Dutch Vander in a Scum squad, for example, but Scum has their own roster of Y-wing pilots to draw from.

The YT-1300 is available (in slightly different forms) for the Resistance, Rebellion, and Scum factions; again the pilots are unique to the faction, and you can't field Rebel Han in a Resistance list, but Resistance does have their own version of Han. The ships have slightly different names (the Scum Falcon is a Customized YT-1300, the Rebels have a Modified YT-1300, and Resistance is a Scavenged YT-1300) so you might have missed them when you went looking for them, but they're definitely there and can be fielded for those factions.

Check the official points lists and squad builders to see what ships, pilots, and upgrades are available for each faction. Keep in mind that you must also have the correct cardboard (the faction-specific pilot cards and corresponding ship bases) to field a ship in a tournament.

Hope this helps!

It would have to be a special format tournament. In my area Trinity tournaments were pretty popular in 1e where you would be required to use one ship from each of the three factions. I haven't seen any of that yet for 2e, but I'm sure a couple of my local TOs will make it happen after the System Open and Hyperspace. :)

I’ve seen and enjoyed Guns for Hire where you’re randomly assigned a scum pilot and upgrades from a preset pool of ships all similar in power level.

You bring to the event a 150 pt build of your chosen faction, but not SnV. At the start of the round you get your ship.

Fun way to mix factions.
