I'm happy with the Delta 7B mod, but not with the paint. The wash went on way too thick - I just wanted it to go into the panel lines. How do people do that? I might clean it off and try again,

Edited by mazz0Thin your wash more. And you can use your brush to pull it away from the white areas.

When I thin it it ends up forming little pools <confused face>
Depends what you thin it with. Thin it with medium and it settles evenly thin it with water and it won't mix properly and is more patchy.
The other route is I often use a very fine brush to 'paint' the wash into the cracks. Once you get the ink there it will flow and fill the frack naturally.
I use a thin wash over the whole model after the basecoat, then either add more wash into the recesses with a fine detail brush or use actual black paint depending how much definition I want.
Then when that's done, I layer the paint (usually a slightly lighter shade) over the model again to smooth out the colours and neaten it up.
Your paint looks a little thick to me so I hesitate suggesting this, but if you want to try it you can clean up the overall look of the ship by doing this: take your base colors, the yellow, maroon and off-white and paint back over those areas carefully, avoiding getting any paint into the panel lines. It should give your ship a cleaner look.
Personally if it were mine I'd strip the ship and try again. Keep in mind though, I've re-done a few specific ships about 4 times because that's who I am.
Next time though, thin your paints with a thinner medium like Vallejo's:
And look into making a wet pallet (google). I get the feeling your paint is drying out on your brush or on whatever you use as a pallet, which makes it harder to apply and can result in a globby look.
