Depends... 1 of every new release thus far has been a lot more than a $50 difference... The cheapest option if you want loads of units plus a variety of upgrades is, 3x core sets plus a (forthcoming) $10 pack of upgrade cards! You won't get every card but you'll get enough to tinker with.

For now, that might change depending on release schedule/what units are released. So far it's all been recognizable units, useful for RPG/display at least. In the future, I might be more selective.
As for Black Friday, I buy my Legion stuff from the FLGS I play at, and their Black Friday deals aren't NEARLY that good (on most products, they do tend to have a 50% table,10-20% on everything else).

so far all expansions like corps and support units are 24.95 at x2 for 1 of each side it is 49.9.1

I thought you meant an entire collection of 1x every expansion for both sides. Not 1 corps for both sides.

yeah so my buy plan is 2 core boxes at 99.95. 2 corps for each side at 24.95 (total so far 299.70) and as long as the support prices remain true then 1 more of each support unit at 24.95 (49.9) for a total of 349.6 which is a tad bit more then what 3 core boxes and 1 card booster pack will cost. but should give me cards your combo doesn't give.

If it's about cards, adding the $10 pack of just-cards to several core sets is the best value option. For a tiny increase in cost you get a lot more figures. Spare Luke's and Darth's have resale value on the secondary market. As do your 3rd set of dice & rulers, and presumably so will spare Obi-Wan/Grievous models.

looking at the information they release it looks like the core boxes don't come with the smoke grenades or the binos for the Droids, and base off the pic of the core box units that were shown at adepticon there are some different unit poses that in the core boxes like the bino holding droid. which from the pic of powerpoint isn't in the core box.

If you want value that's one discussion. If you want [this specific item that's simply not in the starter or the expansion deck] then it doesn't matter.

From the dialogue of the presentation, if I recall correctly it was indicated that there wasn't a planned difference in poses between the core set and other boxes, unlike with the AT-RT or Speederbikes. Since the droids are on sprues, I'd be a little surprised if FFG went as far as to change the sprue between the two boxes.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the smoke grenades and binos (or whatever seperate box special cards may exist) are included in the second Corps boxes for GAR or CIS if FFG follows the same philosophy as they did with the initial releases.
