What Objectives for this Bomber list?

By drail14me, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I’m still learning and trying to understand objectives. I’m gonna run this Bomber list tomorrow. What Objectives would be good for it and why?

Rebel Bomber (396/400)

Commander: General Rieekan

[flagship] MC80 Command Cruiser (106)
- General Rieekan (30)
- Intel Officer (7)
= 143 total points

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
- Yavaris (5)
- Adar Tallon (10)
= 72 total points

CR90 Corvette A (44)
= 44 total points

GR-75 Combat Retrofits (24)
- Bomber Command Center (8)
= 32 total points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
- Comms Net (2)
= 20 total points

Squadrons (85/134):
1x Havoc - Nym (21)
1x Norra Wexley Y-wing Squadron (17)
1x Dutch Vander Y-Wing Squadron (16)
1x Gold Squadron Y-wing Squadron (12)
1x Moldy Crow - Jan Ors (19)

Usually bomber lists like Precision Strike but your bomber list with respect doesn't have that many bombers so I would go for Most Wanted , Contested Outpost and Solar Corona .

Most Wanted lets you set the comms net Flotilla as your objective ship then target the largest enemy you think you can reliably kill in the enemy fleet. Your flotilla will be happy jogging along on the far side of your entire fleet from the enemy, nice and protected, giving out tokens and delaying activations. If it gets caught you only give away an extra 18 points. Meanwhile go for the enemy large ship and get yourself 120, 112, 106 extra points etc. when it goes down in flames.

Contested Outpost is nice to hold and gain points. Stiff arm the opponent with the bombers and Yavaris double tapping threat gets you kills. You can always abandon the base late in the game perhaps leaving a flotilla there to gain points but don't be too focused on it, feel free to abandon and give him 40 points if you have 80 already if the tactical situation can save giving away expensive kills.

Solar Corona is good as you have no ECM on the flagship and you get to out deploy and attack from "up sun". Superior positions is similar and your fighters can gain tokens from it but there are pure bomber and Sloane lists out there who will have a field day against you so Corona is milder but safer.

On to your list... Actually the bombers aren't the problem but if someone shoots Jan (and you have no escort) your bombers get locked up in almost useless dogfights for the rest of the game. Normally you see 110-134 points spent on squadrons and a reasonable chunk of that is spent on escorts and space superiority squadrons to allow the bombers to do their thing if you run into reasonable to good fighter opposition. get 2-3 X-wings or X-wing characters and pay for this by dropping the CR90A. Also ECM & Boosted Comms on the flagship and Flight commander on Yavaris moving Tallon to a flotilla or the flagship.

Thanks. I had all generic Squadrons at first. 4 Y’s, 3 X’s and a HWK. However, I swapped them to named pilots because of Rieekan.

I still use some generic with Rieekan although some people love all ace builds.

Have a read of this. It was played just before the FAQ so the FCT & Yavaris combo was legal then but it still gives a good feel of using Rieekan bombers.

I’m confused on Most wanted. I have a small bid. Knowing my opponent, I’ll get the choice and probably take 1st Player. Second Player picks from 1st players Objectives, right? So, second player would get to pick my Most Wanted ship, right?

It's the other way around. First picks the objective from second.

If you have a better bid you get to pick first or second player.

If you choose to be second player (or your opponent had a better bid and chose to make you second) then you offer him all three objective cards and give him the choice. Hopefully you now offer him three nasty missions all biased against 1st player and they should be tailored to your lists strengths.

If you are first player you choose from his list of three objectives. You examine each one and choose the least bad for your current matchup.

I don’t know how I keep getting this one mixed up.

No worries, it'll come... I for my part sometimes still wanna move then shoot... 😅

Yeah, I’m having a hard time unlearning X-Wing.

Here’s what I changed too:

I dropped the Gold Sqdron for an X-Wing. The X and Jan can help each other. Yavaris with a token can activate the three bombers and each will be able to attack twice with rerolls to soften the target for the the ships

@Mad Cat

Wonder if it would be worth it to trade the CR90 for LT Blount and 3 Z-95’s? My opponent seems to like Decimators and often has 3.

no. if you know that, use all xwings with biggs and jan. you dont even need anything else

Superior Positions > Solar Corona for squads, Fighter Ambush > Contested Outpost (the station is a key asset in the squadron game, best not to sacrifice that.) Assuming you’re confident in winning the squadron game.

Thanks for the help and advice. We played our game tonight. My friend showed up with a Vader ISD, two Arquitens, a Gozonti and three Decimators as expected. I had the bid but gave him first player and he picked Solor Corona as the Objective.

The Z-95s were only able to take out one Decimator. Even with two re-rolls, the red dice sucked. However, the Z’s did their job and kept the Decimators out of the fight away from my ships.

Yavaris with Nym, Norra and Dutch backed up by a Coms Net transport is devastating. They dropped an Arquitens in the 3rd round then pumbled the ISD in the 4th. The ISD killed Yavaris the next round but Rieeken kept it around the rest of the round allowing it to leave the ISD on one hull. Nym finished off the ISD on a Squadron Command from the MC-80 then the remaining Squadrons killed the last Arquiten.

Fun game and good to finally win against his decimator mini swarm.
