How does struts work with the anti castleling/not moving call FFG made a while back?

Castleling is where you turn your moves into bumps and not go anywhere. It's especially used on Turn 1. That's not allowed. That is also not what happens with Grapplers, though. It is 100% OK to sit on a rock and not move. For one, only 2 ships can sit on the rock, so you can't have your whole list do it. You also can't start the game there.

Ok not 100% exact.

For once, castling is specifically : when you make no effort to change the board state of your ships even if you could, for more than 2 turns. For example, self bumping 2 ships with 1 straight facing each others. It doesn't have to do with the beginning of the game. And it is allowed, as long as you don't do it for more than 2 turns (1 turn, your opponent could call a TO and he would warn you not to continue doing it. If you do it again.... you're SOoL.) Moreover, you can have at least 1 ship that continues moving and changing position, and the rest of your list could stay put without problem.

You can also have more than 2 ships using grappling struts, just not on the same asteroid. If you bring 3 debris for example, and put them as close as possible to your line, it's really easy to have 6 vultures just chilling there first turn.

OK.... you can have more than 1 asteroid, but you are probably splitting your forces up too much. It's not hard to have the enemy approach from one side and take on just 2 at a time. I wouldn't recommend it.

I wonder if tournament play will say you can only sit for 2 turns on a rock. I hope not as it's a great tactic at times.

I just looked up the exact wording:

"Fortressing" is conduct violation relating to a game state in which players are using the rules for overlapping ships to prevent the movement of their own ships.

With that in mind, then, just sitting on an asteroid isn't fortressing.

Which we got to watch happen live last Saturday on the GSP stream during the top 8 iirc.

I foresee much use in Tragedy Simming some seismic charges. 😃

Which Imp ship can do this again?

Punisher

...or with B Wings just tractor beam them off the rock or ionize them for the next turn. Strut on that droids!
