Clone Wars Unit Request & Speculation

By Tealadin, in Star Wars: Legion

So lets face it, certain units are going to make it in:

Dooku, B2 Battledroids, Staps, Commando Droids, Magna Guard, AATs, NR-N99s, Ventress, Cad Bane, DSD1 Spider Droid, Anakin, Asoka, Padme, Clone Jetrooper, Clone Scouts, AT-RT, Saber Tank. & probably Yoda and Sidious...Also a Republic Commandos unit! (Please)

But I'd also love seeing support units like the Geonosians, Naboo Royal guard, Wookies, Gungans, Twi'lek Resistance, etc.

One unit in I'd love to see would be:

Geonosian animal handlers (ep 2 arena scene). This would give an amazing option for flexibility. A unit that comes with 2 animal handlers that you can upgrade with either a Nexu (specializing in hunting small groups or individuals like commanders and operatives), a Reek (tanky and able to threaten both infantry and vehicles), or an Acklay (which could be an infantry terror). Boxing them would be a problem I can see, as you would either have to make them each individual, or put all three animals in one which would be fairly pricey.

And since FF usually pairs units with like ones I hope they make an Obi-Wan (Rako Hardeen) as an operative opposite Cad Bane.

I'm guessing they'll do an ARC trooper which could represent Rex, but from the slightly off-side players you have Pre Viszla, Death Watch, young Boba, Sugi, Embo, Aurra Sing, Hondo and pirates, Night Sisters, not forgetting Savage... the list could go on. I appreciate your mentioning of Ventress, Rep Commandos and Rako Hardeen though, seeing the first two might mean I'll be living on cheap noodles for a while :)

Phase II clones as corps

Arc Troopers as special forces.

Rex as commander

Cody as commander.

Anakin, Ahsoka, Yoda, Plo Kloon!!, Luminara Unduli Bariss Offee, Ima-Gun Di, the jedi alone offer countless expansion possibilities..

.. though with Ahsoka and Anakin, Luminara and Bariss, I wonder if we will get a “sidekick” upgrade slot, to apply a padawan to the Jedi. There are obvious other characters that could benefit from said upgrade to form a unit. Will be interesting to see.

I forgot about the Clone commanders...although I bet we'll get a generic clone commander and a super tactical droid as Specialist/Cheap officers.

There are just SO many Jedi I didn't mention them all, because their aren't parallels in the Seperatists so I doubt we'll see many. After all Dooku v Anakin, Ventress v Ahsoka, Sideous v Yoda, are great and obvious pairings. You then still have Maul and Savage they could throw in, but that still leaves far more Republic Jedi and Characters then the CIS have available.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Mace as well, but I'm not sure about the Night sisters even...Grievous did kind kill em all...Maybe they will end up a sub/seperate faction.

If I can stick a bunch of clones in a LAAT Ill be happy.

For every jedi we see featured, we will get a bounty hunter for the CIS.

Cad Bane

Embo

Latts Razzi (one of my favourites)

Aurra Sing

and so on..

we also have:

Wat Tambor

Nute Gunray

Riff Tamsen

Poggle the Lesser (geonosian queen even?)

Kalani

The point is, for every jedi, there is an equally good villian to choose from.

Durge, really wish the character wasn’t thrown away by Disney

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold your taun-tauns there mate.. Durge was discarded by George Lucas and Filoni LONG before the Disney buyout.

Get your facts straight.

False. While Filoni chose to write him out he was still Canon thanks to the graphic novels. Alas Legends now.

Just a thought, but if we don't get these as commanders it will literally be criminal.

Just had a thought.. I think it likely that we will get a specialist pack, but I'm trying to figure out what each unit will be:

we have a generic commander, comms trooper, repair droid, and medic.

For the clones, there certainly could be a generic Jedi, but I don't think it likely. It seems likely to me that this is where we will get a Cody sculpt.

The astromech droid is simple, there are plenty of models shown in clone wars.

medic wise, I think this is a perfect opportunity to have a kaminoan model - while not frontline, they were medics.

There was concept art shown below:

He never showed up, but his name was Chatter, a clone communications trooper. Might be a good option to pursue.

I wonder if there is a way to make these vehicles/creaturs an upgrade of sorts, that a commander could use, where you ‘slot’ the miniature into the model. Boga could have a hollowed out section on its back (similar in function to the old dewback and tauntaun toys) where you place a miniature in.

Even other factions could have vehicles like this, they would add new weapon options, or even alter the speed of a character.

Admittedly, it is easier to make a new model that is unique, but the above suggestion offers more versatility.

People have done this with D&D, but it never looks right...I'd just prefer to have alternate figures made.

Even if I end up not playing CIS I’ll buy a Cad Bane model. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Rex and Cody could be fielded like the generic commander, a higher point main commander or as a unit add-on.

Seppy's all the way for me, though, my wish is kinda a niche part of the Separatist fandom, organic soldiers. Sure, we have the obvious ones like Geonosians, Quarren and such, but they had other organic armies too! I'd love to see Aqualish fighters, or, heaven bless, Harch (Admiral Trenche's Species. Tarantula dude for those who don't know) I read that that Harch raiders were hold outs after the war at least, so there is certainly precedence to have SOME sort of representation. But all in all, I'll take whatever I'll get. And if I am disappointed slightly, eh. I'll just proxy rebels for friendly games, so I have a contingency plan.

Bah! You want organic troops with cool vehicles? Look no further than Umbara

These troops and units NEED to be made.

Oh my gosh, I completely forgot about them! I apologize extensively! They would work too, but only in certain battlefields (I know it doesn't matter in the long run, I just like telling stories through games and minis) I'll still get them though! Without a doubt.

There is also the Neimoidians. While mostly leadership is shown they also had soldiers. Plus the Shark species from the Moncal/Quarren episode of TCW. And the Sep's allied with the Zygerrians so that would be an interesting angle.

In the episode "Heros on both sides" Ahsoka meets the son of Sep Senator Mina Bonteri who says his father was killed in battle by a Jedi, so we know that the CIS also had human soldiers.

True true, I'm betting my money more on Neimoidians, Geonosians and Umbarans then Karkadans (Sp?) or Zygerrians. There were also organic units in legends, the Koorivar Fusiliers and Gossam Commandos to name a couple that I know off the top of my head, though I doubt they'd go THAT far. Still doesn't hurt to dream though...

Also the Nimbus Commandos, but we'll definitely not see them as Jabiim was replaced by Umbara.

If i'd have my way, Durge

Bombard General Jar Jar Binks and a unit of Gungan soldiers.

(Looks around for someone to high-five)

As much as the hate is for Jar Jar and I am with that. The Gungans actually have a really good army that would work perfectly against CIS or really any faction. I am down for some Gungans. They even made their way into Clone Wars animated series assisting on some water planet.

I believe that planet was Mon Cala.

Lotta good ideas here folks! I'll jump on the bandwagon of wanting Durge, ARC troopers (as operatives, not SF), Nimbus commandos, and Republic commandos (as SF).

What I really want, and don't really expect to see, is non-droid, non-alien troops for the CIS, and a generic Jedi Knight commander/operative. Firstly, human/mixed squads of meatbag troopers would be great to show this was a rebellion, and give me a chance to recreate Jabiimi soldiers. (love that comic arc). Also it would add a great deal of diversity to the CIS, so the entire faction wouldn't come off as droids and aliens. (which was Palpatine's propaganda after all)

As for the generic Jedi Knight, I think it would be a great way to allow players to customize their army, and would be a great way of bringing many of the countless Jedi from the movies, books, and comics into the game without having to actually release each one as an expansion. Aayla Secura and Quinlan Vos are two that immediately come to mind as characters I want in the game, but don't expect any time soon. With an official Generic Jedi, I could easily swap them out, and the rules would fit fine until an official model was released. For people interested in roleplaying, it would also allow them to create "their" Jedi in the game, and use their own mini.
