I'm betting the issue came up, but they wanted both keywords. While I do consider this an errata, the idea that an upgrade with its own keyword will cancel the base unit's keyword isn't' that much of a stretch. Honestly, I'm just glad they're willing to tweak the rules to get rid of that little issue. Sabine will be tough enough without being better than Vader in melee.
