Double Infiltrators - Maul+Dooku

By Laniakean_Guy, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Wonder if the following list has merit:

Darth Maul (65)
Hate (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (4)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
Chancellor Palpatine (14)
General Grievous (3)
Seismic Charges (3)
Shield Upgrade (4)

Ship total: 108 Half Points: 54 Threshold: 6

Count Dooku (61)
Heightened Perception (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (4)
Perceptive Copilot (8)
DRK-1 Probe Droids (6)
Shield Upgrade (4)
Scimitar (4)

Ship total: 90 Half Points: 45 Threshold: 6

Total: 198

The Probe Droids should give both ships target locks before the initial engagement, meaning the first attacks should be Lock+Focus (Dooku: 2 focus).

Dooku decloaks, attacks att Ini 7, hopefully does some damage and thereby os able to recloak. Shield Upgrade should make him last longer, HLC gives him additional punch.

Maul: due to Palpatine, an attacker at range 0-2 gets a stress token, preventing him from performing red maneuvers next turn, while Maul is able to e.g. K-turn, if necessary. If the attack hits, Maul gets a force token via Hate, paying for the force he just had to spend for Palpatine. Grievous should negate 2 damag/crits. Seismic Charges should make attacking Maul from behind even riskier (points-wise Proton Bombs instead of Seismics also fit). Proton Torps should give Maul's attacks additional punch, likewise HLC. Finally, Shield Upgrade gives him a little bit more longevity.

Not sure how viable a two-ship list is in this meta. Both ships should be hard to take down, but they can never shoot more than 2-3 times a round. What do you think? A fun list oder something that might defeat a list or two?

Like, this is probably close to an optimal Maul/Dooku two ship squad. But that's a bit of a backhanded compliment because it's still pretty awful.

Less upgrades more ships!

Love non-meta lists myself, so give it a shot! See how it does.

If you're finding it not performing well, I might recommend dropping a bunch of stuff to try and make it a 3 squad with grievous or something. To keep the non-typical list but perhaps be more effective.

Perhaps:

Grievous with the title: 57

Maul with hate and seismic: 71

Dooku with probes and scimitar: 71

Total: 199

Of course you could drop something for a bid if you feel like you want one.

Dooku with title and Heightened Perception looks too good to give up. I haven't bought in to CIS, but that combo makes me want to borrow some.

Dooku and Maul? Heck yeah!

Just Dooku and Maul? Heck no...

Dooku with HP, PerCo, and Scimitar, and Maul with Hate and PerCo. That leaves room for 2 Vultures or one bellyrub. I'd go with the bellyrub

What about 3 Vultures?

(65) Darth Maul [Sith Infiltrator]
(3) Hate
(3) General Grievous
(0) Jamming Beam
Points: 71

(61) Count Dooku [Sith Infiltrator]
(3) Hate
(4) Scimitar
(0) Jamming Beam
Points: 68

(20) Trade Federation Drone [Vulture-class Droid Fighter]
Points: 20

(20) Trade Federation Drone [Vulture-class Droid Fighter]
Points: 20

(20) Trade Federation Drone [Vulture-class Droid Fighter]
Points: 20

Total points: 199

Alot of people are choosing HP on Dooku but I think I have to go with hate on this one.

This makes me want to play Separatists, great list!

You see the most important upgrade is the one and only Jamming Beam ;)

Never doubt it!

Have you had any reps with this list yet? I'm going to try it tonight if possible

Unfortunately not, but it's on the waiting list of squads. On paper it looks pretty good though. Let me know how you do :)

I played two games now, one with the original list, the other with Maul+Hate, Dooku+HP+Scimitar and Grievous+Outmaneuver+Soulless One. Both games against 3 Y-Wings with VTG+Ion+Hull+R4 + Saw+Leia or (second game) Norra+VTG+Io+Hull+R4.

In the first game I spent the first four rounds positioning (dragging the Y-Wings into the rocks). After two rounds of combat time was up - I lost two shields, the Y-Wings took 13 damage, spread out over all ships. The list was fun to fly - durable, lots of options each round. The main problems were - just two ships, meaning it is difficult to keep damaged ships in at least one arc, and only a few upgrade cards could be used in a round, meaning wasted points for the other cards. But overall a fun list where mistakes or bad die rolls don't immediately result in dead ship (hello Soontir).

In the second game I more or less charged into the Y-Wings to get a feel how durable the Infiltrators are (Grievous flanked). After three rounds of firing Maul was down to four hull and ionized, Dooku had lost two shields, but two Y-Wings were down. The list was also fun to fly - I like the dials on both the Infiltrator and the B-22.

One game each with a list doesn't mean much, but anyway, here are some things I noticed:

In both lists, Dooku could profit from more Force or Hate, but with Hate there's no Ini 7-attack and re-cloak...

I like the combination of Maul with Hate+Palpatine, and I also like Dooku with HP+Scimitar. Unfortunately, a squad with both ships doesn't leave much room for other ships. Two drones might not make much difference. On the other hand, I liked Grievous, but taking him leaves only three points - maybe Markmanship or Crack Shot?

Taking PerCo on both Maul and Dooku most likely wouldn't work for me - in my local meta there are many lists with 5+ ships, meaning I would bump too often. If I was good enough to consistently avoid bumps and lots of arcs, I would try Vader+Soontir+Duchess 🙂

I'm thinking of trying this-

Maul w/Hate

Dooku w/Heightened Perceptions, Scimitar

Greivous w/Outmaneuver, Soulless One

Greivous can flank and/or be a decent distraction for the two Sith. Dooku uses Scimitar to cloak, then spend the cloak token to fire at I7 with a Force, then re-cloak. Maul does Maul stuff and recharges Force.

It flies decently. Greivous can move but the dial feels somewhat limiting for a flanker. Maul and Dooku just try to do as must damage as they can before they go down. In the games I've played they usually go for Dooku first. Overall it's a fun list.
