Kylo equals Ahsoka confirmed.

I mean, lets be honest. Force Unleashed made it cool. But also, realistically, it would make it easier to block with and make yourself a smaller target than the traditional, German Broadsword standard stance that 50% of Jedi stand with. Smaller Target = good.
But also its likely easier to walk around with it like that on set and not hit every single thing laying around. I larp all the time and let me tell you what, walking around with a sword unsheathed and not in combat, is super inconvienent. Even sheathed, I regularly hit people while turning around.
Still, that poster looks photoshopped to ****. I could make that poster in like, an hour.

That grip also makes it so that your pinky and ring fingers are the primary digits holding the portion of the handle that will get jerked around the hardest. In other words, someone who holds a sword like that is going to have it torn out of their hand on a more consistent basis.
It also makes your swings weaker and makes thrusts awkward as ****.
AFAIK, the reverse grip was taught - if at all - as something improvisational to use in a pinch. Historically, it was never taught as a standard technique to be used at all times. The idea that someone ever trained with reverse grip as their default was probably some 1950s samurai movie that lacked any sort of historical accuracy.

Oh no, I agree. You shouldnt ever actually do it. Its rubbish. But if a lightsaber doesnt weigh much, then deflecting bolts of energy away from you wouldnt be too bad.
Also, the force. You could just use the force to keep it in your hand.
The reverse grip comes from dagger use. A stabbing motion with a reverse grip dagger uses the same muscles as a slashing motion from a normal grip sword. Also in this configuration the dagger can also act as a close range slashing weapon, and can even be used to deflect attacks. The dagger is not as prone to disarming as a full sized sword.
It doesn't make a lick of sense to use a lightsaber like this though. The grip is only good for blocking melee as the hand/arm blocks line of sight for trying to stop ranged attacks. On top of that, the longer the blade, the easier it is to disarm, or have a blow that pushes the blade into the wielder as they have no strength to counter a strike like that. The lightsaber blade is also too long for stabbing attacks. So while it looks cool, and is based on a real concept, it would be virtually useless if not just straight up detrimental to the user.

Likewise.. although are they not good enough to deserve lightsabers? Seems strange.
Also, if it was so easy to convert a number of Jedi to the dark side then stuff the Jedi, they're a danger to the galaxy. Train no-one in the Force, it always backfires.
I'm so not impressed.
