Is that the First Order TIE Interceptor?

Why does C3PO have a bow caster?

You know what, at this point it doesn't even matter if it is IX or not. I'll still watch the movie, then I'll decide if I ever want to watch another Di$ney $tar War$ show ever again. But the way I look at it, VII, VIII, & IX are not going on the shelf next to IV, V, & VI, they will be going in the same bin as I, II, & III and thrown in a closet or dim storage unit somewhere.

I'm waiting on word of this fabled streaming Disney service so I can decide how badly I want Cassian and Mandalorian shows....

I am also feeling the the Knights of Ren were (unfortunately) written out of the trilogy, or more like thrown away (like other TFA concepts ) by Ryan, as well as Kylo's Helmet. I would be very surprised if they show up in Episode IX

Yeah after TLJ some things on this poster feel like course corrections, but that's kinda why I'm hoping this is real.

WARNING: Going to be talking about a controversial movie now, so feel free to skip the next paragraph if you'd rather not read the billionth essay on "why I didn't care for The Last Jedi." Seriously, there's a lot of pent up nerd sass beyond this point.

TLJ wasn't the worst thing ever, and certainly isn't the worst SW property out there, but I've got issues with it. It feels like Disney got scared that everyone was calling EP 7 a knock off of A New Hope (an apt criticism, just look at it) , so they scrapped the intended EP 8 script to give us Ryan Johnson's exercise in subverting any and all expectations. Expectations were subverted, but the product is a movie that is more hotly debated than the Prequels ever were (a debate that has made the community as a whole appear toxic thanks to a vocal minority of idiots hijacking the conversation and harassing the actors), a film that is supposed to be the midpoint in a story that leaves our characters in almost the exact same place they were at the end of the last film (seriously Kylo and Rey don't change at all, if anything Kylo just repeats his arc from EP 7, the only events of consequence will be the deaths of the 2 worst mentor characters in the series. I love Luke, but this movie made him suck), and a movie that seems to be at odds with it's own message (this series should change except for when it's time to roll credits). Johnson is a fine director, but he has made it no secret that he has more than a little disdain for both this series and especially it's fans, which I feel shows through quite brilliantly in the completely tone deaf ending, where the entire surviving Resistance has a nice little celebration on the Falcon, "All our friends just died horribly, we lost two bases, all of our ships are destroyed except this ancient freighter, and no one is going to help us! YAAAAY!!!" Now to be fair, there are things in this movie I liked, Rose didn't bug me until her kamikaze, and the fact that a nuanced argument about who profits from the galaxy's constant war would've been fascinating had it not been immediately abandoned, so yeah I'm not exactly a fan.

Course correction is needed from where I sit. I have confidence in JJ to make something entertaining that feels adequately like a Star Wars movie. However, it is concerning to know that the writer/director is fighting an uphill battle to recover the story he tried to create several years ago, before someone else came in and scrapped his second act for a low speed chase. This poster gives me hope that this 3rd entry will actually build off of previous entries in the series instead of just trying to be anything but what you thought you were coming to see. Even if it turns out fake, it reminds me that the person in charge of the next movie is a geeky fan like us.

I think its fake, but its bland enough to be true, also no signs of Ep8 anywhere near it, so I want it to be true... Im so confused.

Hopefully away from the movie with the rest of the real-world identity politics and class warfare she was spewing about last time.

Because Star Wars totally didn't kick off with a poor farmer boy having his family murdered by a totalitarian regime.

The Triangle panels look pretty bad. I hope it's not a new Tie Interceptor because I prefer Von Regg's ride.

@Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun - I like your usual pokes and pushes to generate interest, but this one doesn't feel right. There's a lot of little things on the poster that seem to make it less plausible. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a fake that one source ran with and all the other buzz networks decided to jump on before checking.

As a note, I also wouldn't be surprised if it's legit... the story group has been approving some very weird directions for the franchise... not limited to this decade.

Alls I know is that I still have no idea who the Resistance and First Order are, why they're fighting and why I should care. The sequels sorely needed a scene to set up the conflict . They're on the third of three movies, and I have no intention of watching it, because they failed to build any tension or stakes. I'll wait till home video just out of curiosity of how deep they keep digging this hole.

Saddest of all, I consider them a squandering of the last chance we had for the original cast to get together and give their characters a proper finale/passing of the torch.

Come to think of it, isn't the "interceptor" in the poster one of EC Henry's fanon designs? The panels rotate to a cannons up position for landing...

Nope, similar but not the same:

Couldn't agree more. The FO needed to be explained, and the nature of the Resistance needed it just as bad. I've heard something about the Resistance fighting a cold war of sorts against the FO leading up to EP 7, but if the audience isn't told this somehow, these two factions appear to be nothing more than the same two factions from the original trilogy after they both decided to re-brand themselves to stay hip. EP 4 didn't have a massive established continuity to worry about, but taking the time to have the villains sit down to discuss the world, and the impact their weapon will have on it goes a long way to building out the world and establishing what the status quo is. Something similar would've gone a long way to establish the FO's place in the world as a whole.

Yeah, I had such high hopes for Luke going into EP 8. Then the movie came out, and that hope shriveled and died over the course of 2 1/2 hours. Harrison Ford has wanted out of Star Wars forever, so Han's death didn't really surprise me. Frankly I didn't think he'd actually do another Star Wars movie at all. Losing Carrie Fisher though just sucks. Such a cool person, and easily the best Disney Princess. It's a shame her role in the last two films wasn't a bit larger considering what happened. At least Mark Hamill can come back all blue and transparent for EP 9, though likely only for a scene or two tops. The whole situation is not ideal if you grew up watching those three.

I'm hoping for good things from 9. I'm not about to try and get a hype train rolling though. Probably gonna go see it on a cheap day at one of my local theaters instead of doing full price. I liked TFA enough to give this last one a shot, but disliked TLJ enough to kill most of my excitement towards this trilogy. It killed my hype for Solo too, to the point that I haven't bothered to see it. I love Donald Glover, but I just couldn't bring myself to care enough to go and pay to watch it.

What, the alien cameo from The Explorers (1985)?

I think it's on Netflix now. it's a fun movie.

I did see Solo and liked it well enough. I understand that your enthusiasm was dead though. I felt that way myself.

TLJ managed to kill off all of my enthusiasm for the new star wars. Its a shame but at least the old stuff is still there.

I haven't bothered to watch the new resistance cartoon show and although I will watch the new movie I am just not looking forward to it at all.

“You will be told the odds.”

After years of being dissed for telling odds, C3PO makes you sit down and hear his math lesson or you get C3P-owned.

I will say one thing though. If any one thing on that poster is real...

I sincerely hope it's that Stormtrooper.

Kylo Ren's lightsaber never bothered me... until I saw him holding it backhanded...

Yup, it’s on Netflix for now.

Worth the watch if you haven’t seen it yet. I really liked Solo.

I think it's pretty obvious this is real.

It's obviously not the final poster, but it's definitely from Lucasfilm.

Also C3PO holding chewie's bowcaster was reported as a spoiler already not too long ago.

Putting it on the poster is another JJ "misdirection". Like the TFA poster having finn with a lightsaber, which he technically does in the movie a couple times, but it makes you think he's going to be a jedi, when actually that's what Rey will be. In this case maybe you assume it means C3PO is going full commando mode, but in reality it's probably used to fool someone into thinking he's a dangerous battle droid/droid bounty hunter/etc.

The f---? That bow better shoot laser arrows or something, because if it's just a regular bow, in a world with laser blasters galore, that might just be the stupidest thing.

"Oh yeah, I'm so cool cause I shoot arrows and-aw ****, I ran out, better go retrieve some from the dead bodies and-" *gets mowed down.*

Actually, if that scene happens that would make me so happy.

On a scale of 1-10 I can tell you I am at 0.
