Gaps where arms connect on Rebel Troopers?

By FrogTrigger, in Painting

Just curious if many people have noticed larger gaps where the arms connect on minis, especially Rebel Troopers from the core. I've noticed Sorastro does a matt varnish and paints over it later on with the base colour.. did people spend much time cutting these joints down or how noticeable did they find these gaps at the end of the day?

Also, random tidbit, what colours did you enjoy for your Duro's skin tone? Seems like a great chance to get creative!

Yeah certain models have noticeable gaps, chiefly rebel troopers and Imperial Royal Guard. I did trim my pegs a bit where it was warranted and it solved the issue

One thing I Always do is before glueing the mini, is take a mug of hot water, assemble the mini and chuck it in the water for a few minutes, the hot water softens the plastic and will give you a better fit especially if you press down a bit you can remove most gaps, this is worked for so far and I haven't had to take out the greenstuff yet

I trim the pegs for a better fit. A shading wash just makes any remaining gaps look like jacket seams, usually. If it's not for a hero I don't worry about it beyond that. They can be filled with white glue however.

Different for every squad. The squad members all get a blob of matching color underneath their bases too. That way if confusing arises I can check who is in what squad.
