MC80c uses

By Church14, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Taking an off topic conversation to a new thread.

Use for MC80c’s:

Name: Rebel two ship - wave 2
Faction: Rebel
Commander: General Dodonna

Assault: Advanced Gunnery
Defense: Contested Outpost
Navigation: Superior Positions

MC80 Command Cruiser (106)
• General Dodonna (20)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
= 137 Points

MC80 Command Cruiser (106)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
= 117 Points

Squadrons:
• Jan Ors (19)
• 2 x Y-wing Squadron (20)
• 3 x B-wing Squadron (42)
• 4 x X-wing Squadron (52)
= 133 Points

Total Points: 387

Nowadays I would put FCT on both to keep the squads moving.

I like them as carriers. One set of FCTs and a pair of QBTs would be fun.

Change one B-Wing into Gold Squadron and both Y-Wings into Corran or Ketsu, tanking a little pressure off the squadron activation numbers with the rogue ability.

Thinking about it maybe one of the carriers should have Boosted Comms so maybe a YT2400 or Nora in place of Corran/Ketsu.

To be fair, when I used this list a lot flotillas, Gold squad, rogues, etc. didn’t exist yet.

The original variant had Jan-XXXXBBBB instead of Jan XXXXBBBYY. I didn’t worry much about squad activation pressure though. You bank tokens turn 1, then you have 10 squadron command for a turn. Once combat started, I expected losses. 8 squadron command was usually plenty then.

I am gonna try updating this list. It may need to drop to a 100 point screen or something though

So my first attempt at reverse-engineering my old Ackbar list into an MC80C list has gone this way:

Snackbar's Grad A Squadbar
Author: Akhrin

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 398/400

Commander: Admiral Ackbar

Assault Objective: Close-Range Intel Scan
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Solar Corona

[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)
- Admiral Ackbar ( 38 points)
- Wing Commander ( 6 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Quad Battery Turrets ( 5 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 178 total ship cost

- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Quad Battery Turrets ( 5 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 140 total ship cost

1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
1 Shara Bey ( 17 points)
1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)
1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)
1 Green Squadron ( 12 points)
= 80 total squadron cost

Doesn't quite feel right yet, but I think with a bit of play it would clear up quite how desperately they really need Wing Commander (I imagine after a game or two I'd swap them out for something else after getting the hang of when this fleet's likely to need the commands).

Right now the squad ball is a bit of "best of both worlds" in that it's got pieces to handle either squads or squadless lists. It's not going to wipe the opposing squads in most cases but can hopefully slow them down long enough for the Ackbar pickles to put some harm on whatever's supporting the squads.

I feel like you could change out Wing Commanders for defensive or offensive liaison. Try to bank tokens for two rounds and spam your default command from there on out. That shaves 6 points.

I will think a bit more on this version. I haven’t run it without a flotilla in a while.

Yeah, they could do the trick, Offensive Liason to squad on a key turn, and they could each do that once. I just get worried about trying that without some flotillas throwing tokens on them, but if they don't need to Engine Tech turn one then that could be used to bank it. Maybe even go with a Support Officer or Skilled First Officer to kill off the unnecessary dial(s) when required and swap to squads once it's clear what's going on with the engagement.

@Dr alex they are recreating your Euros list

I’m curious what he had. The original list that the one I posted comes from has just an MC30 and an MC80.
