I called in to work yesterday, so I could start working on this number right here. I was pretty bummed to find out that Anakin's custom Aethersprite, Azure Angel , is now non-cannon and we likely won't see a proper FFG model for it anytime soon. As such, I took it on my self to go ahead and make my own Azure Angel for the tabletop. The base is an Aethersprite, the engine fenders came from an Auzituck, the engines below are made out of T-65 and Auzituck Engines, the side fins come from a starviper, and the cannons are all from a T-65 X-wing, trimmed to fit. It's considerably hard to cut off one astromech and glue it on to another piece smoothly, so the droid on this was made from whittling down some model kit sprue until it looked right. So far, the kitbashing is essentially done, save for the extended dorsal fin. Now, I just need to spend a lot more time cleaning up the painted lines and working on highlights and shadows.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else tried to make one of these yet?

I think I might have seen someone make one on reddit, unless that was you. Outside of that, Mel had an Azure Angel on shapeways, thought took it down until he could redo it to be more in line with the FFG model.

That one on reddit actually inspired me to do this one. I was trying to go for a more screen accurate look with the fenders and droid. The modeling is a challenge yes, but the painting is the most difficult part about this custom ship.The pod-racer stripe scheme is yikes to hand paint.

Oh my gosh, I just realized that the paint schemes were the same. I watched the original Clone Wars mini series back in 2006 when I was a kid, and stil watch them from time to time, and I NEVER caught that the Angel and the Podracer had the same color scheme..

It's now redone. With a few extra variations of the Delta-7.

Mel's version
