Worst defeat with the base game

By RabiTampa, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I wanted to see, if like poker players, if you remember the worst defeat you've had.

I just lost a solo game against Ithaqua. the three investigator enter portals at Black Cover, Graveyard and Woods (Another Dimesion, the Great Hall, City of the great place). The next mythos phase, I pull The Terrible Experiment mythos card. needless to say the terror level went to 10.

A devouring of Kate Winthrop and Micheal McGlen and a insane Ashcan later, Ithaqua wakens. with a freshly equipped Monterey Jack and Bob Jenkins and a beat up Ashcan, I fail all but two Start of the battle rolls... the saved Jack's bullwhip and one that saved a lantern from Bob... yeah, it was a manslaughter. good fun though.

But here a question that arose, if two or more monster ar in the same location do you fight them all in the same combat phase? I played it as yes, but what is the official answer?

I don't remember my worst defeat... But I do remember two games in a row where my second mythos draw was the Y'Ha Nethlei card that removes all clues from the board. I was freaking out when that happened. Furious, but also amused ;')

My worst defeat was the second or third time I played, it was a 3 player game against Shubby. At the fourth round 2 of us were in OW when the Terrible Experiment (the rumor that has the pile of monsters) came into play. When we were able to reach it the terror was already at 10 and there were so many monsters that Shubby appeared just seconds later and swallowed us whole.

You have to fight or evade both monsters, yes. Obviously you can fight one and evade the other, whatever takes your fancy.

My worst defeat was a five player game against Shub-Niggurath. I (Bob Jenkins) was devoured in the first turn while attempting blood magic, and then the next two encounters were "a gate and a monster appears." Shub ended up waking at the end of turn two, and devoured three of us right at the start of combat.

Two of the players hadn't played before, and we had to assure them that this doesn't happen very often.
