DFS-311 and Networked Calculations

By PolsVoiceful, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello, have two different questions on some interactions.

First, with DSF-311, it says "At the start of the Engagement Phase, you may transfer 1 of your calculate tokens to another friendly ship at range 0-3." So, it seems, with how it it worded, there is no restriction with what ship you can give a calculate token as long as they are in range, so giving a calculate token to a non droid ship or a ship without the calculate action may receive a calculate token from DSF-311.

Second, Networked Calculations reads "While you defend or perform an attack, you may spend one calculate token from a friendly ship at range 0-1 to change 1 eyeball result to an evade or hit result." Again, this does not say it must be a droid ship or a ship with the calculate action. It also does not say anything about the ship also needs to have Networked Calculations, just it needs to be a friendly ship at range.

So the scenario is, DFS-311 transfers a calculate token to Darth Maul on the Sith Infiltrator (seems legal with the wording of DFS-311's ability, Maul does not have Kraken, which does add a calculate action to the action bar. So Maul is a non droid ship and has no calculate action on his action bar). Then, a trade federation ship at range of 0-1 of Maul, uses Networked Calculations to use the calculate token to change a result. Maul's ship does not have the Networked Calculations, is not a droid ship, and does not have calculate on his action bar, but with wording this all seems legal.

I just want to check if this is RAI and not RAW. (rules as intended vs rules as written)

This all works perfectly fine.

That all sounds good to me. I can't say if it is the rules as intended since I am not one of the game's developers but it definitely fits the rules as written.

Thanks for the fast reply! Just wanted to double check.
