[CIS] Dooku + Cluster Drone Swarm

By Laniakean_Guy, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Might be good against swarms, though aces will be difficult. Dooku lurks behind, maybe getting bullseye shots. Seismic Charges for when they come for him.

The drones don't have to spend a round reloading their ESCs. Of course, they have to get in range, Cluster missiles being only Range 1-2.

Smallish bid to maybe be able to choose setup position after other swarms have been placed.

Count Dooku (61)
Heightened Perception (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (4)

What are your thoughts?

For Vultures: Energy-Shell Charges > any other missile

In fact I would almost say they are in auto-include. You can make an argument for a couple Discord Missiles thrown in to give your opponent another element to think about, but in general Energy-shells will are just better for the price tag. The problem with clusters and most other missiles is the darn target lock. Yeah I3 helps to get them off against other generics, but against targets above I3 (which are in abundance) they are inferior. I like the Dooku build though. With the 4 points you save with ESC you can get a shield upgrade on Dooku or Get one discord missile on a vulture. You could fit Palp on Dooku for an extra force charge. That Dooku build will go through force charges pretty darn quickly.

Why don't you squeeze some probe droids in to help you getting locks`?

Yes, that might help. After flying the list for the first time, I'm not super happy about the drones' dial.

Regarding ESC: yes, they are better against anything with > Ini 3, for the initial engage. And afterwards they die like flies anyway... Probe droids might help here, but I've got no experience with them yet.
