Discord Missile launch clarification

By BanthaExpress, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The Discord Missile is launched at the beginning of the engagement phase (as opposed the system phase for proton bombs/proximity mines etc, or in the end phase in the case of the DRK-1 probe droid).

Also the card from the Discord Missile does not use the keyword "attack"

Does this imply that the Vulture droid (or presumably the Hyena droid) may still make a primary attack during that engagement phase, despite having already launched a missile?

Yup.

Launching isnt the same as attacking, so yes. Discord missiles are launching an object, other missiles you attack with.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I expected but wasn't sure if it was too good to be true 🙂

A good way to tell if something is an attack or not is to ask yourself this..

Am i choosing a defender? or Is a ship defending against this?

For discord missiles, the answer is no. You don't pick a defender, they don't roll defense dice. You are not even required to aim them at a ship. You can launch them in empty space on the first turn if you really wanted to.

And if it overlap a ship in the lauunch I can put it atached at the enemy ship?

Still very arguable, unfortunately, but I thnk the current closest thing we have to consensus is yes.

This is sound, but there's one other way to tell if something is an attack 😉 look at the card...

Does it have an Attack : header?
