Are you buying republic, separatists or neither?

By Greedo_Sharpshooter, in X-Wing

I was intending to buy into Separatists (big fan of both droids and Sith, so easy choice), but earlier this month accidentally a whole lot of Scum at a local sale, and starting two new factions in the space of a month seems a little excessive.

Besides which I've been so delighted with Scum (Mandalorians are fun incarnate) that I want to focus on them for a while instead. I'll see how Team Roger Roger is looking in a month or two.

(And now I'll probably end up splurging on Separatists in a few days' time, just like I did with Scum, because I have no self-control and there's another sale on...)

Republic though I regret it

How come?

If I got any I'd get The Republic, because the clones are cool.

But I'm a dedicated Resistance pilot.

I was thinking of picking up Seps but onestly droids seems weak.

I will wait and see for some month

If they will demonstrate to be efficient and effective (i boubt because of the 2 primary attack) i will buy them.

Otherwise not.

The only intereresting ship is infiltrator

Neither

Neither. I already own all the ships of that era from another game and they are in perfect condition. If and when ffg should make something that it was never made before I will surely acquire as collectible.

Neither. Empire and First Order only for me.

They just seem kind of weak and boring unfortunately. The jedi need the 7b to have any punch or durability and that gets crazy expensive fast. None of the pilot abilities on the ships just jump out at me as something really cool to build or play around like rebels (my main faction) have.

I’ve bought into Resistance and I’m gonna invest in Republic since I’ve been waiting for it since 1.0

Republic for me. Got one of each coming in. Going to use my Rebel Arc for some double limited Arc action.

Literally the exact same for me.

I do like Hyena Bombers though.. and the Infiltrator... maybe down the track <_<

Picked up Republic.

Conceptually the CIS does interesting things, but I'm a sucker for Incom Sfoils, so there we go.

Bought heavy into Republic.

But still waiting for it cause delay in Germany 😭

Neither.

I never liked any of the prequel ships. I am going to stay with the old 1.0 factions. I did want to get my hands on some gas clouds and I traded for 3 of them. At this point there is nothing in any of the new factions thats a must have for me.

Neither. Sticking with original 3 factions. 3 is hard enough on a wallet, much less 7.

Are gas clouds just in the multipacks and/or the Maul's ship? I've only received my Aethersprites (Anakin's) and ARCs so far and have no gas clouds.

They'll be in either one of the squad packs, and nowhere else atm.

I plan on going full Separatists, though to be honest, this will be my first game, I've been keeping tabs on X-Wing when I heard about them adding Clone Wars, but I need to buy the Core Set, which will have useless ships that I won't care for personally.

Any suggestions?

Also, do you think they will make a Clone Wars Core Set for players like me?

I they had any plans to do that I would think it would have come out with this wave (alongside the squad packs).

It's people such as yourself that FFG needs a cheap buy in product (damage deck, templates, dice) or just release a stand-alone damage deck. Everything else you need you can already get (assuming you go with third party templates, as the ugly FFG ones aren't released yet).

Cheers, man, and welcome!

So, yeah. It is extremely unlikely, although not completely impossible, that there will ever be a Clone Wars Core Set. And even if there might someday be one, it will likely be far too late for you to make use. That said. There are a number of folk out there with multiple damage decks, from whom you might snag one. Same with maneuver templates - I've got something like five of them myself, although only one set is technically legal. And I don't use it, and no one has objected so far. Your other two options are to simply hang on to the ships - you may find yourself sucked in deeper than you ever expected, as I was. Or you can try to trade/sell them. I still have a couple locals (Seattle area) who are new enough, and Rebel enough, to be interested in that sort of thing...maybe.

Good luck, and enjoy your droid-driven shenanigans!

Played Republic last week and had a lot of fun! This week, I'll try Separatists.

Just played first Separatist game, and wow are they underwhelming. Dooku seems like he has potential, but the Vultures don't really do much but die.

Neither. Following all the factions is going to be too expensive, and the prequel era never really clicked with me. As it is I am following Rebels and Imperials and I'm dabbling with scum. undecided on resistance and first order -- i'll probably wait until there's more available.

8x Vultures at I3 with 6x Energy Shells is the only thing that's had any real potential in CIS right now. The Sith Infiltrator and B-22 are just stealh jousters i.e. they make you think they're not jousters with cool abilities or linked actions, but they're just jousters and can't match the economy of options in other factions. Energy shell I3 vultures get work done and are better the more you have.

Played a second game with them, and they fared a little better, and the match was actually rather close. Though, that may have had more to do with the fact that my opponent's green dice were rather unkind to him.

Bit the bullet and got a SoS pack and one Infiltrator for Seps. I'll be getting another Infiltrator in the morning so I can run Maul/Dooku/Grievous. The Large ships with fairly decent maneuverability are interesting, and Grievous running the flanks might be really fun. If not, well, they can always be fodder for my painting- I'm thinking that a rusted paintjob (similar to my Scrapyard Scum) indicating ships that survived the Clone Wars and now are barely working as pirates will be fun.
