Anakin vs Debris Cloud

By theBitterFig, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I think I have the answer ( Anakin can clear a Debris Cloud's stress ), but I want to throw it out there for second opinions.

Debris Clouds give stress after the "check pilot stress" step. This is still within the process of executing a maneuver, correct? I know from previous discussion of Full Throttle, that Fully Executing a maneuver takes place after the stress from the Debris lands on a ship.

Since fully executing a maneuver happens after the stress, Anakin's ability ought to be able to remove it, provided he meets his positional requirements (Bullseye or Range 1 in full arc). Now, there's still a chance of crits, but seems like a useful too to have.

Yup, he can indeed.

Not only do they happen in the same timing window, due to this rule...

If there are game effects that share the same timing window as a player’s ability, the game effect is resolved first.

... you actually HAVE to take the stress from the debris cloud first.

I don't think I'd describe them as happening in the same window, however. Debris stress happens after the Check Difficulty step, while Anakin happens after fully executing a maneuver. As such, the Debris stress happens within the "executing a maneuver" which has to be over before Anakin can trigger.

Mostly, I just put the question here in case I was missing something.

Ahh yes yes.. you are right.

The Roll for Damage happens at the same time as Anakins ability, which means you have to roll for the damage first, then trigger Anakins ability if you wanted to.
