Remotes--Now that we Know

By SpiderMana, in X-Wing

So some interesting clarifications on remotes that I'd seen questioned over pre-release.

  • Remotes are defined as a sub-category of Device
  • This officially makes them Objects
  • Buzz droids cannot be placed overlapping an object
    • Which means your Probe droids can get in the way of something .
    • Spare Parts is considered a Debris Cloud once dropped (same as Rigged Cargo I'd assume but IDK)
      • Which means you can use Spare Parts to help shake Buzz Droids

I still haven't gotten to play with Buzz Droids, but it's nice to know more about them :D

You can also use *allies* to help shake Buzz Droids. I don't know why they are so afraid of the other target that they flee to your rear, though...

It is all about maintaining personal space...and invading yours ;)

What i dont know yet, if Buzz Droid are launched into an overlapping position, will they stay there until a ship moves over them or will they instantly reposition.

Edit: oops I misunderstood your post. Based on how things like rigged cargo and prox mines work, if an object is placed in a way that overlaps a ship, that ship is immediately counted as having overlapped that object, so the buzz droids would trigger if they land on someone when they are launched.

Not really. Dropping a spare parts canister won’t help a ship that has buzz droids on it.

If the buzz droid is relocated in your rear guides after you maneuvered through it and you drop a debris cloud on it, nothing happens, the buzz droid still damages you and falls off next turn like it was already going to anyway.

Maybe you meant another ship dropping a debris cloud in front of a friendly ship that has a buzz droid on it to force it to the rear guides, but we already knew you could do that with any obstacle by just flying straight at it.

I should have phrased that better, but this was moreso what I meant. Just that you can place them in such a way as to help yourself against Buzz Droids in general.

But also Vultures can land on Spare Parts 😂 I'd be interested in seeing a Struts list vs a 4X w/ Spare Parts list. 😜
