Whoa 😱 Didn't notice that at first. Does anyone have speculation as to why a point change?

Most likely its a mistake.

Yup, could it really be called an FFG article without some kind of mistake in there?
But 7 consecutive rounds plus a top2-cut sounds really strange.
We had that on Euros 2017 (with top4, though) and were struggling to pair players properly starting round 5. 😕
2 groups on day 1 would at least avoid the repairing process and you could go consecutive on day 2.

Its 4 rounds day 1 with a cut to top 40, then 3 more rounds of swiss with a cut to the top 2 so 7 games of swiss yes, but not consecutive its split over 2 days.
"Day 1 of the Star Wars: Armada World Championship features four rounds of Swiss pairings that culminate in a cut to the Top 40. These 40 players will continue their battles on Day 2 with three more rounds of Swiss play (all scores cumulative), followed by a final, head-to-head match between the Top 2 players"

I am so glad you believe that Europeans are capable of playing 7 games in one day. This belief in our robustness will be your downfall.
As someone who went 0-4 at last year's worlds, I'm super glad they are giving out round completion awards this year...
Kinda in answer to ndogg229 (though you didn't drop if you kept playing each round)
Be careful everyone, if you didn't notice it in Adeptacon's rules, anyone who drops an event they have started receives a ban from the rest of that Adeptacon and for all future Adeptacons. It's different if you're eliminated, or if you cancel an event (like say you made day 2 of something), but otherwise if you start you gotta finish. This includes playing day 2 if you qualify. (Though family/medical/work emergencies are exceptions).

It came up when a few people were planning their trips and wanted to do both Armada and Legion. If Armada was your primary goal you were fine, if it was Legion, you had to tank your Armada games or not sign up. Luckily for me the main game I wanted to play was Armada, but
@Captain Weather
is going to play Legion, but had wanted to join us for Day 1 and couldn't.

Does that not mean that points are added up over both days?
Edit: we had problems pairing top players as they tend to play against each other quite quickly. On the final round I think it was 6 or 7 tables that had to be re-paired.

Points are added up over both days, however, as per tournament rules, once you "Cut", the restriction on being able to play the same person again is removed for that cut segment... So you could indeed play someone on day two post cut that you played on day one.
So it can be tricky to pair appropriately... But I don't think this'll be much different in actuality from not having comulative scores in the long sense... ITs all about randomly matching in bracket, anyway, when people are matching scores
Ok, thanks. Hadn't that up in mind.

Whoa... I didn't even notice that neither...
