Spare Parts Container

By librarian101, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When dropping the Debris field with the spare parts container do you use the same method as when dropping the regular debris field, I did not see any special instructions?

Ahahaha it doesn't actually specify a template.

(Strictly there isn't a default template. But use the 1 straight.)

Thats what I thought, but a new opportunity for an x-wing to use a new weapon on a ship following you.

Since no template is specified, and there are no nubs on the Spare Parts token for which to receive a template, then I would surmise it's dropped directly out the back of the ship without a template.

Hopefully the upcoming Rules References clears this up.

Oh yeah, probably.

Yea, i dont have the template in front of me, but i thought it didnt have guides and it just fit on the guides of the ship. But they are right, it doesnt specify how to drop them. Guessing they may edit the rules reference to state the default distance is no template or directly off the ship base, or something to that effect.

I'm going to advocate for the 5 straight templates until they fix it. Consider it a spring-loaded spare parts container.

from the spread. it doesn't have guides and so it doesn't seem like it will be dropped with a template. just fit it in your guides and it's dropped.

If launched at that velocity will it damage any ships that it passes through?

I am going with the thought that since there are no nubs it doesn't use a template.

Yup concur.

Yep. Seems to deploy directly from the ship base.

I have no doubt that this is the right way.

But I sure do wish they said it somewhere. XP

To that end, this is why I'm glad for the many-marshals unofficial rulings guide. FFG makes a bunch of omissions. Somehow or another, the community has to clean it up. Maybe FFG wants things put in a different bin, but damnation it's good that there's someone picking stuff up off the floor.

That they do. FFG is not infallible. Which is why we always have to consider the Rules as Intended and not strictly go by how they are written, because many times, they are written poorly.
Im sure someone will argue you can deploy the Spare Parts in a different way, but it seems pretty clear (to me anyway) that FFG's intent is to deploy them as pictured above.

Thanks for all the comments, that certainly looks like the correct procedure
