Disney Resurrects Lucasfilm Games
So is this still LucasArts but renamed back to its original name of Lucasfilm Games?
Seems this is just a rebranding and is still the company in the role of licensing to companies like EA rather than a new development studio or something of the like.
I'm less than whelmed by this until we know what it means.

Rumor has it that Disney is going to be taking away EA's exclusive rights to making Star Wars games and instead having the newly renamed Lucasfilm Games be the primary developer of Star Wars games.
Now call back xwing and tie fighter games team. Lord Holland we are expecting you *on his knee.
Yes, a NEW TIE fighter game is what is needed. An actual sim, not the battlefront garbage.
I want a collectors edition conttoller the resembles the TIE Fighter control yoke for it too!
Yeah, if this brings back X-Wing/TIE Fighter, Dark Forces, etc...

Make Star Citizen but it's Star Wars! For real tho a full on sim would be awesome. let you pick if you're starting out as a freighter captain (smuggler), Imperial cadet, or Rebel pilot, then just let you loose on the Galaxy. Bonus points if they manage to capture the tone of the Original Tie-Fighter game, when you're playing as an Imperial. Getting to play as the baddies and see all the anti-Rebel propaganda was a great way to set the tone, and show how the Empire ran things.
What of an MMO for Tie/x-wing??
Those game have multiplayer since xwing vs tiefighter. Very big battles would be fun but experience tought me that piloting skill is best evaluated in matches with max 8 players. 4 vs 4 is the best and more played format at xwing alliance tournaments.

YES. I've been DYING for a new X-Wing . A REAL X-Wing , not some arcade shooter or glorified Battlefield reskin. I want an honest-to-god high-fidelity space combat simulator (preferably modable).
I'd especially love to have:
* Story Mode as in the original games
* Dynamic Campaign a'la
European Air War
* Quick Mission mode as in
X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter
* Multiplayer support for the Quick Missions and Dynamic Campaign (again, as in
XvT
)
* Story and Campaigns covering both
Legends
and Nucanon

I agree with everything except the last point. The last point isn't going to happen. If lucasfilm releases a campaign it is going to be considered canon, while regular skirmish battles won't be, the campaign will be written from a story standpoint which has to fit in somewhere. No other game, since disney, that has a story has been legends, they've all been canonized. It also doesn't fit the current Modus Operandi, as no new legends content is being released (as far as I'm aware), barring games like battlefront quick pickup battles.
I'd love to also see one that, like the ole Star Trek Armada, series let you build up large fleets for large battles.. Just not like 'empire at war' seemed to be..

You should check out Sins of a Solar Empire. There are several great Star Wars mods for it.

I never said it's what they WILL do, just that it's what I'd LIKE to see.
Unless Kyle Katarn and the Star Wars space sims are coming back I'm skeptical.

4v4 is probably best for most games, but occasionally a massive fleet v fleet battle could be fun. PvP Battle of Endor, perhaps?

Hopefully the game would be moddable, and the community could come up with their own Legends-based campaigns if they wanted.

I'd like to have an Imperial campaign where it doesn't cop out and do the "Oh we wanna defect to the Rebels now" ending. That's so many characters' backstory in Legends and Canon that it's a cliche.

In TIE Fighter , you got to hunt the defectors! Here's hoping for TIE Fighter II !!

Fact is that in Legends there are not so many fleet actions during Rebellion. I count the Battles of Murkhana, Endor, and Derra IV. Mon Mothma vetoed this tactic because the Rebels had at most 30 cruiser (a dozen Mon Calamari and older ships) and a bunch of frigate only and could not loose them easily. And more over cannot loose the people. Rebel Alliance was literally a speck over the leviathan of the Imperial Navy. And this is the way they fought enstablishing temporary local superiority striking everywhere they could with multiple hyperspace raids that made the Alliance appear bigger and more numerous she actually was. If the Navy was under correct guide (Thrawn's) the result has always been a dire massacre of Rebels fighters and crafts...
You guys need to start reading articles better.
Update: Lucasfilm Games has provided some clarification in regards to its role at Disney and relationship with third party publishers and developers. It was actually brought back around the time as LucasArts closed its doors, several years ago, specifically to work with studios and the Star Wars brand, not to develop games internally.
Disney and Lucasfilm Games are still committed to its partnership with developers and publishers like EA, a representative said, and there are no plans to change this. The recent job listings, as noted in the original story, are all focused on supporting live and upcoming Star Wars games.
Update: While the Disney Careers listings are all publisher-side jobs, it looks like Lucasfilm Games has also been looking for designers as far back as 2017. Disney was advertising for a technical artist, engineering manager, producer, community manager and a lead game designer on Linkedin, a screencap of which was shared by Team17 community manager Ashley Day, suggesting that new games, at least then, were being considered.

Only a rumor.
Even if Disney decides to opens a Studio that did what the former Lucas Arts used to do it won't be the same Lucas Arts that Disney closed down.

Well that's good, because that's the same Lucasarts that produced Star Wars Kinect and TFU 2. They were trash.
