Quick Builds and Solitary

By Matanui3, in X-Wing

If Quick Build isn't allowed to break the Solitary rule of one per list, you can't fly two Belbullabs together unless one is the elite generic, since they all have Tactical Relays.

And if it *does* break the rule, that opens up a whole can of worms: what's next, two copies of Grievous, etc. in a list? (Hey, if Solitary is ignored, it stands to reason uniqueness would be as well!)

Depends on how casual a game you’re playing, I’d say?

Was wondering about this as well.

Looking at the quickbuild lists (and cards that come with expansions), I noticed that the pilot names do have the "limited" dots, while the upgrades they carry, don't. So I assumed that pilots do have to follow the "limited" rules, but this does not apply to their upgrades.

Of course, "solitary" is a new thing. I'm just going to assume that in QB rules, the restrictions box of upgrade cards do not apply (given how the QB already break certain restrictions, like Ablative Plating on a small ship), therefore the "solitary" keyword also does not apply.

I know it's a casual format, but it would be great if FFG gave this a bit more attention. It's a great format for casual play. But come on... Duplicate pilots in the QB lists, non-existing pilots, etc...

Or just leave off the offending upgrade. That seems like a good "justice based" solution.

Want to run Count Dooku and General Grievous in the same QB list? Can't have the Grievous crew on Dooku, so it's just omitted. Want to run a few Feethan Ottraw Autopilots? Only one gets TV-94.

at that point, what the difference with just playing a constructed list instead of QB? :P

Qb just doesn't have enough rules to be clear about this kind of question. House rules are needed.

With specifically Feethan Ottraw? Not much, but you are still limited to nothing *more* than the upgrades on the cards. And it's mostly at the disadvantage of the player who needs to "cut" duplicates. They don't get any compensation, but it all adds towards the cost of the ships, meaning they'd get less for their points.

Also, the context matters. I have this imagination that a great way to do Quickbuild events would be something vaguely draft-based, where you'll get a pool of ships from which to construct a list on the day. Having a bit of leeway, particularly in Separatists where the pool of available ships is so small, seems just and fair.
