WHFRP Initiative rules instead?

By Venture, in Rogue Trader House Rules

Hello all,

What are folks' thoughts on using Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay initiative rules in RT?

In WHFRP, everyone rolls initiative and adds bonuses as applicable. The DM then draws out the initiative oreder, highest to lowest. Now instead of a character going when "their" initiative is up, the group can decide as a whole which character will go on any of the rolled inits. This is to reflect leadership, working together as an experienced team, etc...

Basically, the PCs initiative rolls are 'shared', in the sense that the PCs determine who acts when.

Why bother?

Just use the delay action to get some double teaming goodness.

There is no sharing in 40K. Sharing is a sign of weakness. If you are slow and pathetic and can't act before the foul Xenos/Mutant/Heretic/Warp spawn scum that He has seen fit to place in your path and grant you the glory of destroying, then the Emperor hates you and you deserve what ever punishment he deems fit. Those that can survive will carry on better for witnessing your death and will learn the lesson of hating the weak and inferior and using them to your advantage while they still live. The survivors will be stronger and the Imperium of Man will be stronger!

Awesome, thanks! :)

Ultimately if you prefer this "sharing " thing use it. It's your game.

I can understand the concept of a team working together but I think having some characters with enhanced genetic or cybernetic reflexes so far beyond what others in the group may have leads to some major issues with the idea of pooling initiative.

Don't forget you can always spend a fate point to boost your initiative.
