May the 4th.

It would be really cool actually.

Besides the fact that it would be May

I hope it will be prior to May 4th as we have a Sector Fleet Battle planned with the SSD as the mission goal!

Seriously it is still in development as it has been for almost a year in the queue and, even when it hits the printers, it's going to be two or three months before it reaches the shelves. Nothing has ever gone through first printing and distribution faster that than that and the production pipeline for a big product like that is not going to be short. Manufacturing hasn't even started yet.

Even if we are looking at the end of the development step it is still going to be June at the earliest if not July or August before we have a realistic chance of seeing it.

One of the recent XWing updates went from development to shipping in 3 weeks.

We cant trust it being accurate anymore.

Was it a reprint? How long did the shipping state last? There was a period of a few weeks last month or so when the queue didn't seem to have been updated but it has been regularly since but most physical model based releases do, literally, take a couple of months to pass through regardless of anecdotes. The SSD is going to be at the very longest production time and also, frankly, as a niche product is not going to get the priority the Legion and X-Wing releases get.

Given the customer interest (and some of the impatience) though it would seem strange for FFG not to take the first opportunity to flag the actual start of manufacturing.

It seems strange now, but many would argue you get used to it.

We May call it a niche product, but for them it’s aksi a flagship demonstration of capability.

What we know is tgat it won’t be five in time for Worlds... that’s it.

it could arrive the week after all we know / there is going to be a panel st Worlds, maybe more info is delivered there along with the new expansion news.

I'm not sure what X-Wing product you are referencing in your discussion with Zerker, but Wave III X-Wing had a pretty fast turnaround.

The "Announcing Wave III" article for X-Wing went up on November 9th, and it just hit shelves this week, for a pretty quick 4.5 month turnaround. Granted, technically speaking the Clone Wars stuff was announced at the Hyperspace Report in May, but as the first two waves of X-Wing Second Edition came first, the website's official Wave III announcement was not until November.

So, if the promised Armada announcement at Adepticon next week follows this 4.5 month pacing, we could expect it on store shelves no earlier than late July . That said, we all know that the speed and frequency of X-Wing and Legion releases are much, much faster than Armada. So to expect Armada to follow in the footsteps of one of X-Wing's faster releases would certainly be... optimistic ... at best. Heck, the SSD alone was hinted at 20 months ago ("something big"), officially announced 8 months ago, and has yet to hit shelves with some store owners/distributor whispers believing it may still be over a month away. That's more than twice as long as X-Wing's Wave III ... for the record, X-Wing has had two huge waves of releases and a third wave announced and showcased all since the SSD was announced .

While I know folks will say "but the SSD is big and complex so it's gonna take a long time!," remember that X-Wing's Wave III was comprised of seven products, including the new "squadron packs" multi-ship format for printing/packaging. There was also a huge error realized late in production, which required re-printing some cardboard components, opening completed Republic Squadron packs, adding the corrected components, and then rewrapping the sets. And it still had only a 4 Month turnaround from Announcement Article to Store Shelves... 'cuz X-Wing.

Might an Armada wave announced at Adepticon get to store shelves by the end of July? Sure, there's nothing logically impossible about that. But such a thing would be shocking given all the evidence we have available. Realistically, I think you'd be looking at best at an early release at Gencon with general release around Sept-Nov. Worth noting, though, that one thing going against a Gencon early release is that for the past two years FFG has not brought any Armada stock to Gencon, so you cannot even buy it at their Dealer Hall booth. Would they bring early-release new expansions to the con fora game line they are not stocking at the booth? Yea, I think they would, but it's probably not going to make an Armada early release a huge get-it-in-time-for-Gencon sort of priority item.

You realize Dras is referring to the SSD and not the mystery wave, right?
