Okay so let me paint the picture, I started playing when 1st ed came out, I’ve played scum, imperial and rebel, Ive enjoyed Decimitor, Dash and Boba, I tried whisper and echo and failed cos I couldn’t master either.

Anyway so now we have 2nd ed and I honestly don’t know what to play, I’ve got conversion kits for rebel, imperial and scum, but at the moment nothing jumps out to me as fun and competitive, I see all these 4 phantom, 3lok, 5ywing lists but they don’t appeal to me.

Can you lovely people recommend something that might appeal

If you liked Boba, he's still good in 2.0.

The Falcon (Rebel or Resistance) is probably the best large-based turreted ship right now.

Otherwise, a lot of stuff is fun and competitive. It's a matter of just deciding what ships you like to fly.

3-4ship rebel is pretty solid choice just now.

XXY, XXYY or XXXX might be a good place to start. Wedge and Luke are pretty powerhouse pilots in 2.0. A mix of aces and generic ships is always good.

U wings are a great support ship for rebels. Leia/tactical officer together are just 4pts. Put these on a cheap U Wing and pair up with your choice of X's and Y's XYU or XXYU or XXXU or XYYU are all decent options for rebels in both formats.

im a scum player in 2.0 but im making the jump into rebels because they seem a bit more viable in tournament play right now. U can still play scum but u have less options for squads. I have a decent selection of scum and rebel and imperial ships so i can actually play any of these factions without buying too many extra ships. My choice is rebels. In another 5-6 months I might change my mind and go back to scum or pick up a different faction.

Boba- Perceptive Copilot, Slave 1.

Old Teroch- Swarm Tactics.

I really just suggest this list to everyone. It's simple, strong and fun. Nothing beats anything without good piloting, but these 3 are good tools with some relatively simple approaches.

You also need to consider what you will play in both formats. hyperspace and extended. way more options in extended for scum extended vs scum hyperspace. of course you can just play your hyperspace squad in extended if cost is a factor. Most players will tire of playing the same list repeatedly. Having the ability to play more than one faction will keep the game fresh for you and give you a Plan B if FFG nerfs your favourite squad come the next points adjustment.

Boba and Emon is a strong list, I’m working up a boba/Han list. Just pick a ship you like and start with that! If you’re really stuck then just have a flick through Listfortress and see if there is anything that catches your eye.

Honestly, a good place to start is just making a list using your favorite ships and go from there. If you lose, try flying it again to see if you just weren’t flying it correctly. If you still lose, try tweaking it. If you still lose, try against a different list. If you still lose, try a different ship or pilot. Try to limit your changes to one or two ships or pilots at a time so that you can more accurately determine weaknesses in your list. I see too many players completely abandon a potentially good list just because they lost one or two games. I’ve also seen many players who never branch out just because “Well, I’m not familiar with that ship.”
