any news about 2019 World Championship Prizes?

By bokepasa, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

In less than 10 days, the Adepticon 2019 will start, including the IA 2019 World Championship. And yet no news about the prizes.

Unless I missed an update about them, it's a bit weird we are in this situation, isn't it?

Worst case scenario, we'll share what we find out from inside :)

There is some people theorizing that the prizes might contain art of figures from upcoming yet to be announced expansions, thus the cone of silence. Last year the beans were spilled about CT and Thrawn by releasing the prizes before Lothal was announced.

It is just a few of us who get beaten down daily by the salt spraying masses ;)

Yes, something similar happened with the Kanan promo card during the European Championship, giving away a card of an expansion months ahead of its release.

If finally the prizes include promo cards of figures yet to be announced it would be a better spoiler xD

If the reason FFG's been so quiet lately is because they're keeping the next expansion a secret, then that would be great and I would forgive them for making me doubt the relevancy of IA. The silence has gotten people talking after all, but just imagine how the playerbase will explode with the announcement of a new expansion. We might be crazy now, but we will be in full-on frenzy mode if that happens.

Obviously they don't want to reveal the alternate card art for Mount Sorrow because it hasn't even been announced as a unit yet.

As awesome as it would be for the prizes to spoil new expansions, that wouldn't explain the delay in announcing Armada Worlds prizes and the Legion High Command prizes. Unless their prizes are all unannounced content too, which would be a pretty insane situation.

Nope, it's the thing i said.

Nice try though.

I— Wow... Really? You’re going with that reference? Well, okay then. That’s how we’re doing this.

Actually had to do some digging to find out what this was. If this is what you grew up with, I’m sorry. 😐

How curious is that the VP Dial for the World Champion has an illustration of Ezra :D

They don't clearly expect any surprise. Let's see if we can prove them wrong.

I really like those galactic art cards, the ones for Ahsoka, Maul, and Thrawn. I like that you get one for whichever faction you use in the tournament.

The extended art cards are a cool concept but I don’t really like that each one is double sided. So if you want to use both, you have to use the plain version.

Because one of the extended art cards is Spectre cell, I doubt we’ll be getting a nerf. It doesn’t make sense to change its properties after they made the card a prize at Worlds.

We also have no idea how far back these items are planned, spectres Power might not have been fully discovered when the card was chosen.

Spectre has to be nerfed, or OP is dead. This will be even more evident after 60% of the lists at worlds are spectre.

the Top 16 players will earn a bounty of dice to use in future games—two sets of ten dice each.

Ten dice? Not 12? Seems like they snuck in the obligatory mistake in a newspost again. Even the picture shows 12 :P

I think each set is two of each attack dice, but only one of each defense dice. It makes sense because there are no defenses where more than two of one color of dice is used. Since each player gets two sets, FFG can save on dice and still give them two of each defense die.

Every complete set so far has had 2 of each. The picture is two of each. I'm still going with "oopsie" ;)

Agree. Seems it's a typo in the info. A set of dice of IA has 6 dice.

I'm afraid that if we finally get the Spectre nerf, it will be after the Worlds. For next week it would sound a "very last minute" change unfortunately.

Hopefully only the 35+% of the lists are Spectre Cells 🤞 and the rest have a chance of having fun and compete at the same time.

Also, why 6 doorsets, and 6 crates? Why not 4 and 8?

They actually get 6 closed doors and 6 open doors. 6 crates is odd though and so is 12 doors.

Ya I definitely wasn't talking about pre worlds, I figured I didn't need to mention post worlds as that would be implied 1 week out.

Zions Finest vassal tourney showed us a top 2 of spectre, with the best players in the world competing, I haven no doubt Spectre will win. I think the top 16 will only be half spectre, but the final 4 will be 3/4 spectre and whatever DT is running :)

I hope I am wrong! But also don't hope I am, so they will actually look at it is as a 4x4 esque problem and nerf spectre.
