Bracing for The Night's Usurper: A Warm-Up?

By Carthoris, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

My usual comrade and I tackled The Eternal Slumber with Ursula (her) and Jim (me). We got beat up pretty bad: Ursula was defeated and Jim was devoured by the Abyss. So now we're going on to play The Night's Usurper, and I've built a 19-XP Sefina deck for the purpose. But I'm pretty gun-shy of Egypt at this point, and I've never played Sefina before. So before we go in, I'd like to play a standalone solitaire with my new deck just to get a feel for it.

Any suggestions for this purpose? I've got a complete collection of the published scenarios to date. I was thinking maybe Rougarou? Or the Pallid Mask?

Eternal Slumber for us was a recent win using Sefina, Jim, and Roland.

Sefina used this deck: https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/10206/painting-for-profit-standalone-sefina-1.0

I'm not sure this is the way you want to go for a standalone solitaire Sefina, but this is an outstanding deck (quite expensive xp wise) that may give you ideas for her.

If you're going solo, you're going to need some fighting options more than likely. I played Nights Usurper, and it is brutal.

EDIT: I usually run a Sefina that leans more into will power and spells than money. Double or nothing + Storm of Spirits can be an incredibly potent combo if you know you can pull it off.

As to WHICH standalone to try? I personally have never beaten Rougarou, but I've never played it standalone, always having attempted it as a side-story. I'd say as far as difficulty goes, Rougarou is about as tough as you can get. I'm not sure where things stand as far as similarities though--I've only played Usurpers one time.

Yeah, I'm thinking Rougarou is maybe too tall an order. If I do Pallid Mask it won't be the Death Itself designer challenge.
