The way Azathoth is worded

By Guest, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Attack: The end is here! Azathoth destroys the world.

This is not a Start of Battle ability, it's an Attack ability, so according to the dry rules the investigators should have 1 round of combat before the game is over. I know this is not the case, and I know that even if it was the chances beating him in 1 round would be impossible (you would need an absurd amount of clues), I'm just pointing it out.

Thanks

But Azathoth's special all-game ability is that when he awakens, the investigators lose. So you do not get one round to beat him.

If Azathoth awakens, the investigators lose.

whops totally forgot about that now I feel stupid >.<

let this thread die please

It's not impossible in theory. Especially in one investigator games. Clue shotgun with a blessed Joe Diamond could take him out easily. Especially if he was summoned with Call Ancient One and Crystal (Joe could probably pull that off even in a two or possibly three investigator game). Anyone can Kill Azathoth with a bit of careful planning (make sure to get a warding statue or Basil Elton, so you can cancel his attack if he moves first). Not that I'm suggesting anyone ever do this, even if it were possible, it would make the game idiotic. But, um, what Tibs said.

Does his infinite armour make him rather difficult to hurt even with a lot of clue tokens?

You can't damage him. He eats you as soon as he awakens. You don't get an attack roll.

Avi, I think he was talking about your 'not impossible in theory' scenario.

And remember Caputo, a skill check is never lowered below zero. A clue token always allows you to roll 1 die.

Oh. I didn't realize that might have been what he meant. Good call :') Here I am worrying about impossible hypotheticals, where I can't even recognize a possible hypothetical! How ironic.

Yep, that was what I was refering to

and

Good point, I had forgotten that one...
