How many Death Troopers and Pathfinders should one purchase

How many boxes of death troopers and Pathfinders should one buy to maximum list flexibility? (Shipping to my part of the world costs more than 4x the price of a box so I'd rather purchase what I'd need at one time)

I would say x2 max. You want room for a sniper team, and Pathfinders have 2 unique heavy weapon characters.

I have found use for 2 Pathfinders with only Duck and cover and the armament card, but feel you probably only need 1. The Deathtroopers I am very leery of, and am buying only 1 to start. Since they have no pierce resistance at all, in a world with alot of pierce, they may be DOA, but I am getting 1 to test. We know of one of their heavy weapons, and it is dirt cheap. Considering the average model in a DT is 19, the heavy is only 22. So for 3 points you get a slightly better weapon, plus the amazing keyword Compel. This may be worth it, but for 20 points an officer in a unit you would want to compel (like Snows) would be way cheaper. Anyways, I'll get one and see.

Yeah I'm thinking only 1 as well. I think they will be like Royal Guards, in that they will really be worth it paired with a commander with Entourage. Plus since Deathtroopers have comms you can put a relay on them to throw their free entourage order around as needed

"Way cheaper" is 2 points less...

Way cheaper is a minimum of 78 points. What I meant was, if you take the Deathtroopers solely to gain Compel, it is probably better to just slap a 20 point officer on some Snows and call it a day. With Inspire 1 and the increased courage, it will probably get the same job done that the compel DTs would, which cost 98 points minimum. Now if the DTs are great in themselves, that is a nice bonus, but they are going to be Pierce magnets, and I don't know if in this current meta they will justify their cost.

The death troopers have a black w/surge range 4 rifle. Although they don't get the fancy keywords they can be used as snipers quite well.

One box is probably all you'd need

Where do you live?

I was going to ask the same thing ?

I live in Hong Kong and get stuff delivered for not much from UK.

Depends..

Gamer: a few of each.

General: A Legion.

A FFG shareholder: ALL OF THEM!

0-4 depending on if you even do want to use them, how many, and if you are using Palpatine or not. Overall, you most likely won't need many, yet figure it out in your army build design and proxy test play. What I mean by Proxy test play is use a unused corps unit and pretend it is death troopers, play a practice game and see if you even do want to use them and if the cost to use that many are worth it, while also figuring if death troopers fit with your strategy. I don't believe we can completely answer your question cause it really must be made by yourself based how you play and what your army strategy is, etc. Hope that helps though.

I've got two preordered, and I'll probably end up with a third. Don't care for snipers (die to easily, and don't have much impact on the game), so filling their slot will not hurt my lists at all. Not sure I'll use Krennic in the long run. so the fourth won't really be an issue.

To be fair, it's super easy to kill Sniper teams with Pathfinders & Jyn turn 1. You only get an activation advantage if the unit isn't dead...

If you want maximum list flexibility (as in the ability to build any list), then you need 3 pathfinders and 4 deathtroopers. Personally, I’m starting with 1 and might get 2.

I’ve only played a couple games with Pathfinders and one with Pathfinders and Jyn. I found myself feeling like I needed 2 pathfinders when running Jyn, but I am waiting until Sabine comes out to see if she provides the additional support I was craving. If Jyn is your only commander, she can end up well out of command range of your corps units which gets tricky, so having more troopers to issue commands to seems necessary.

TLDR: depends on your strategy
