I'm new to the CoC Card Games - I used to play Mythos back in the day. I'm wondering how compatible the CCG is with the LCG and, more to the point perhaps, if one is of a greater power level than the other. Thanks in advance!
How compatible are the CCG and LCG?
My group mix the old CoC CCG and the LCG. They go together seemlessly and the old cards add much to the game.
At first, I thought the cards and even the stories of the CCG were tougher then the LCG, but after playing a bit, i think its just the fact that the first set had the collectible aspect. After playing both, I actually like this set better. The LCG just lets me get my cards and focus on playing the game, rather then buying a bunch a blind packs with more doubles of cards I already have and dont need.
If you're using sleeves, they're completely compatible. I think, some cards from CCG cards are more powerful than any of the current ones, though. Presumably, those cards are rare, though, so maybe it's not really noticable in actual play.
I haven't seen many cards from the CCG, just the few packs my son buys every now and then. But from what I've seen (back by a comment by Chris Long on BGG) many of the CCGs powerful cards are common. It's like FFG didn't want über-collectors to rule the day.

You got that right. There were some pretty nasty cards in ccg, but there were also nasty counters to those cards. Thats why I'd call it a wash. Not to put words in his mouth but i think the question is " Am I gonna get constantly hammered if I start playing now and dont have cards from the ccg? " and I'd say no. One trend Im seeing in LCD is the fun tweeks theyre doing on the game mechanics with cards, that CCG didnt really have. For example, I think the Lunatics in the upcoming set are gonna be great/fun cards to play in a deck cause they have things happen when they go insane.
Thats really good if you think about it. A hastur player may have to rethink things if everytime my lunatic goes insane i burn one of his locations down.
